Friday Writings......5/27/16

Good morning...
Today I spent a lot of time on the phone with a friend who is going through a really painful time in her life...both spiritually and physically. She feels that she is all alone and all the people that she had known and helped through their own issues are no longer willing to reach out to her in her need. I was left not knowing what to say with her. I see her issues and know her past, but I really was not able to say anything that might be helpful to her. I felt powerless and inadequate. I did not have an idea and it felt like God was silent. Then it occurred to me that perhaps He did not want me to say anything. I have a cross in my bathroom that has this on it, "Good morning, this is God. I will handle everything today. Rely on me." So, I handed it over to Him.

Have a Friday that is more fantastic  than Creme Brule!

God bless from
Corinne

The Devotional Component of Friday Writings in Women's Focus Ministries was written by Corinne Mustafa and is entitled,  "Wedding Daybreak." In this writing the sun is a metaphor for the warmth that God gives His people through His love. Here is one of the stanzas of the poem...

"They bask in the radiance of her wakeup call
But only few can see or even understand
The intensity of protection and provision
The delivery of His gift of affection brings."
Thank you God for all the mornings we are given because of Your great love.

  Today's Devotional

written by
Corinne Mustafa

The sun stretches her shiny arm-like rays
As she rises from her nocturnal divan
behind the eastern hills
Not intense yet as clouds of sleep
Still shroud the luster of her arrival
To launch another nuptial day.

Like a bride she peeks out
from behind a wedding veil of foggy lace
Still dimming the blaze to come
As she slowly opens her amber cyclopean eye.

It is a day for glory this
And nothing will be able to hold her back
As she blesses the waiting world below
Bringing her Master’s warmth and life
Carrying His devotion and protection
To all who wake to greet
Her golden, glowing arrival.

They bask in the radiance of her wakeup call
But only few can see or even understand
The intensity of protection and provision
The delivery of His gift of affection brings.

Few ponder a sunrise and comprehend
Even fewer still appreciate or recognize
That the incredible splendor of this gift
She delivers for Him each day
Is the radiance of our
Groom’s good morning kiss.

Because God has created in such a way that the sun rises and sets each day, we can see a reflection of the life cycle of a person in it. A person is born in the morning, and enjoys her first sight of the things of earth. Her mother's face...her father's loving touch...the feelings of safety that are found from the rituals of time as it spreads out.

Every morning the day dawns. Whether sunny, cloudy. or rainy, whether the sun can actually be seen in a blue sky or hidden behind clouds, the sun is there giving life and warmth from her heated furnace. I had the vision of the sun as a messenger from God who greets us daily like a groom and brings the warmth of His love to His bride. It is likened to a wedding day when the groom sends love and messages to his beloved to rise and shine just as the sun has already done. He sends a kiss of love and warmth to welcome us to our day which blesses us throughout the day.

We should try to hang on to our groom's gift all day and let it direct our passage through that time which is filled with His warmth. Thank you, God.

   In The News

Microchipping your children could happen
'sooner rather than later,' NBC report

"We're fine with people who don't look like us," he writes, "as long as they think like us."
Universities, once recognized as bastions of tolerance and diversity, bear perhaps the greatest blame. Kristof cites studies showing that just 6 to 11 percent of humanities professors are conservatives. Fewer than one in ten social-studies professors call themselves conservative. For perspective, consider that twice that number identify as Marxists!
And lest anyone blame this on conservative self-selection, a third of academics openly admit that they would be less likely to hire a qualified candidate who voted Republican. Black evangelical sociologist George Yancey says he faces more discrimination on campus for his Christian beliefs than he does off-campus for the color of his skin. This aggressive bias turns classrooms into hard-left "echo-chambers" where only one side of any debate is ever heard.
Kristof took his concerns to Facebook, where he asked his mostly liberal followers why those who pride themselves on tolerance can be so intolerant. The replies he got were stunning.

"Much of the 'conservative' worldview consists of ideas that are known empirically to be false," commented one fellow liberal.
Why stop with conservatives? asked another. "How about we make faculties more diverse by hiring idiots?"
Wow. Kristof was understandably dumbfounded. "My Facebook followers have incredible compassion for war victims in South Sudan, for kids who have been trafficked, even for abused chickens, but no obvious empathy for conservative scholars facing discrimination."
Speaking of Facebook, Kristof wasn't the only one this month coming clean about left-wing bias. Several former Facebook employees recently told Gizmodo that the social media titan's "news curators" "routinely [suppressed] conservative news" on the site's trending module.
Rather than serving as an unbiased meter of what people are talking about, concluded Gizmodo, "Facebook's news section reflects "the biases of its workers and the institutional imperatives of the corporation."
Whatever your political persuasion, this skewing of education and news to push an agenda is toxic to free societies. It's gotten so bad that even a few brave liberals are asking, "Is this really what we stand for?"
And we should applaud them! But it's only a start.
If we want other voices heard in academia and the media, we have to make the case for why that's crucial — both by helping our friends and neighbors recognize the bias, and by offering our own voices in answer to the echo.

(Worthy News) - We don't think twice about having the vet put microchips in our dogs and cats if they can help reunite a missing pet with its family. But how willing would you be to have a microchip embedded in your children in this age of Amber alerts?
According to an NBC News report, the technology has been around for several decades, and putting microchips in children will happen "sooner rather than later."
According to WFLA TV (NBC's Tampa Bay, Florida, affiliate), electronics experts say microchipping children is safe and effective, and that Americans eventually will come to accept the process to insure their kids' safety. One day, the report says, it will become as common as barcodes.
The report then features an electronics expert who says that microchip testing in humans is already happening: "The military is not only testing this out, but already utilizes its properties," says Stuart Lipoff. "It's not a matter of if it will happen, but when."
What are your thoughts about this.
Does it sound sinister or helpful"
Would you allow micro chipping of your children?
