Good Morning,
The Bible has many scripture verses that say that it is actually a sin to worry because it shows a doubt about the role of God in our lives. Many tend to believe that worrying is not a sin, but that is not the case. This is supported in scriptures occur in both the Old and New Testaments. One well known verse is in Philippians 4:6-7. Sandy wrote, "God doesn't make us do multiple things before we experience His peace. He very explicitly tells us to not worry and pray about everything and be thankful onto Him."
If we trust God and give everything to Him we will avoid the sin of worrying.

We all are aware of different things
that we fully know are sins to God...but do we really think worrying is a sin??? Maybe
we have the mindset that ,"Yes worrying is a sin, but since we all do it, it really isn't a big thing to the
Lord." Or maybe we think it is
one of those things that our God
just overlooks because it isn't even close to sins such as murder, stealing or hatred. The truth of the matter is, that not only is worrying a sin, but it is also an insult to God. Obviously if we are
worrying about this and that we are not trusting in God. We are not confident to believe that He can handle whatever is going on in our life
right now. Not only are we not confident, but we have lost our peace in
God and are not able to live the abundant
life God has promised us here on earth, if we are worrying.
His Word clearly tells us...
"Don't worry about
anything;
instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need,
and thank him for all he has done.
Then you will
experience God's peace,
which exceeds anything
instead, pray about everything.
Tell God what you need,
and thank him for all he has done.
Then you will
experience God's peace,
which exceeds anything
we can
understand.
His peace will guard
His peace will guard
your hearts and minds
as you live in Christ Jesus."
as you live in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:6-7
He simply tells us we don't have to worry. He wants us to come to Him
for everything, not leaving anything on the table regarding our cares and
needs. Not only shall we tell Him what we need, but we need to thank Him way in
advance for all He has done and be confident our cares and worries are
completely in His hands and He is handling
it. As we do that we shall
experience His wonderful peace, which is beyond our understanding. And it is His divine peace
that will beyond a shadow of a doubt, guard our hearts and minds as we yield to our
Christ Jesus.
Who does not want to experience His
peace??? All humanity is crying out for
genuine peace. God presents it so simple to us in His Word. He is not a complex
God at all. He doesn't make us do multiple things before we experience His
peace. He very explicitly tells us to not
worry and pray about everything and
be thankful onto Him.
I exhort each of us today to give it all to Jesus, and let His peace overwhelm us to overflowing!!

I especially like this phrase, "but since we all do it, it really isn't a big thing to the Lord." It was how I rationalized so many things in the past. Now, I am learning to ask myself how I would respond if the Lord were to ask me what I was thinking when I said or did something selfishly. And worry is selfish. Thank you for the reminder!
