Good Morning,
The writing today studies some of the things we choose to do thinking that they are a highway to success. Many involve misconceptions and poor choices on a person's part. Many are putting "the cart before the horse" to quote an old proverb. In the area of importance we are chasing after shadows and not putting the important things first. Bre Miller wrote, "We live in a world that tells us we have to work hard constantly, always be going and not stopping. The world measures success as how much money we make, etc........The world is so distracting from why we are really here, and that is to serve God. The reason we were made, was to glorify Him."
Have a blessed day, and serve Him today.
Bre

“And what do you benefit if you gain
the whole world but lose your own soul?
Is anything worth more than your soul?”
Matthew
16:26
NLT
We live in a world that tells us we have to work hard constantly, always be going and not stopping. The world measures success as how much money we make, if we have our own business, if we have our dream job, how many kids we have, how much weight we lose, how much we exercise. The world is so distracting from why we are really here, and that is to serve God.
The reason we were made, was to glorify Him. That’s not to say that we can’t want to have a good job, work hard and do all of the things I listed. However, when we become absorbed in being “successful” we forget important things. We forget to stop and enjoy God’s creation; we forget to be still and focus on Him; we forget to be present and in the moment with the people we’re with. We forget to sit and read a book without looking at our phone; we forget to actually watch a movie with our spouse and pay attention the whole time.
Part of this is our cellphones.
Something else that the world uses to measure success is our social media. As
someone who has a You Tube channel, I completely understand wanting to grow on there.
But what is more important? Having a deep heart-to-heart in a coffee shop with a
friend, or getting that good Instagram story of your coffee? Does your
house always have to be perfectly clean? Does everything always have to be
physically perfect?
A perfect
example is found in the Word.
Martha was
so concerned with how everything looked, the food she was preparing and what
she thought was important, that she forgot to spend time with Jesus. She
actually got angry with her sister and asked Jesus to tell her sister she needed to help! (Paraphrased from Luke 10:38-42) Mary knew
what was truly important, and that was hanging out with Jesus and being in the
moment.
This week, lets try to be more like Mary.

These are important factors to think about
when we are working hard to be successful.
They are good to remember; and they are
also good to pray about.

Here is a song about two sisters
and their different choices
of what was important
when Jesus came to visit them...
and their different choices
of what was important
when Jesus came to visit them...
"MARY AND MARTHA"
This song covers how Martha and her sister,
Mary, choose what was important to them
as they lived their relationship with Jesus.
Mary chose to sit by Jesus and hang on every word
that cane from His mouth. Martha thought that it was her
duty as hostess to prepare the house and food so that
the time Jesus was there He would feel like
an honored guest.
I (Corinne Mustafa) remember thinking that,
since Jesus was a man, He came to visit
and just expected to be wined and dined.
Forgive me, Lord! When I was thinking like
that I lost track of WHO You are
and how perfect You are!
We all have a bit of both sisters in us.
A happy medium is a skill to espouse.
