Good morning,
Today's writing talks about the lovely traditions that people enjoy as they celebrate Christmas in a secular way. We get to the point that Jesus birth is central to and the real reason why we have these celebrations. Here is a quote from this writing, "In the midst of all this merriment (for the most part) I hardly ever forget that Christmas is coming. It is nice to relish the facts of what happened and why...as we enjoy ourselves around the biggest gift of all. That is the gift that God provided when He sent Jesus to live and then die so that we could die and then live."
Continue to enjoy the celebration of this festival of joy!

"Busy Season Filled With Gratitude"Written by

Well, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas. Festivities have begun. My neighbor's church had a Victorian Faire this month. Then I was off to get some things I needed at Costco. The most interesting item was a chocolate cake with decadent chocolate fillings and frosting. Our Supper Club Group has a Christmas party is next Sunday, and we are calling it a birthday party for Jesus. We are doing the white elephant game as well at this get together. The food will be appetizers and sweets...not a full meal.
Last Saturday was our church women's Pink Link had our annual brunch. Women are table hosts, and each table is decorated off the chart. Last year we were entertained by the pastors singing songs. They were quite funny, and showed talents we did not know that they had.
I am remembering a couple of years ago when our Bible Study Group hosted a holiday party at one of the small nursing homes in Livermore. We sang together, played Christmas Bingo, and gave these amazing people prezzies that had been especially chosen for them. It is a beautiful memory.
This year we have plans to meet friends a couple of times to share a meal in a restaurant. We also will visit some friends on Christmas Eve. Our sons and family will be here on Christmas Day. Christmas cards have started to roll in, and my Christmas cards and letter have been made and sent. I am busy but on top of it.
In the midst of all this merriment (for the most part) I hardly ever forget that Christmas is coming. It is nice to relish the facts of what happened and why...as we enjoy ourselves around the biggest gift of all. That is the gift that God provided when He sent Jesus to live and then die so that we could die and then live.
God sent Jesus to live and then die
so that we could die and then live.
When you think about the magnitude of this gift, it is beyond overwhelming. Not even a billionaire, using every cent in his bank account plus selling all his earthly goods, could provide even 1% of the value of this gift from God. I have let my imagination run wild here. I invite you to have a mental stream of consciousness where you conger up your ideas of what you have received and things, that if received, in the end, could never even start to measure up.

I know that all of you believe!
Let's all plan to do the things
Let's all plan to do the things
that this graphic suggests.
Let the whole world know why
you are filled with gratitude!
