Women's Focus Ministries

We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,
Corinne Mustafa.......and the Writing Staff of "WFM"

One of our writers is writing a novel, called AFTER THE EVENT, that is published Saturdays separately from the daily posts. There is a link on the left side that will take you to the blog of the novel which is being posted in installments.

Sunday Writing... 9-23-18... "SEASON CHANGES"

Good morning!

Today's writing, "SEASON CHANGES," is about the seasons changing on this first full day of Fall.  We read about what makes the seasons change on this earth.  There are some things we can count on always changing, but one thing that never changes...

Blessings,
Jan

Today's Devotional:

"SEASON CHANGES"
by
Jan Andersen

Today is the first full day of fall.  It is a favorite time of year for many people, as the weather starts to cool down and green leaves begin to look like gleaming gold and burning flames.  Science books will tell you it is due to the plants receiving less sunlight in the fall, which is due to the tilt of the earth on its axis coupled with its orbit around the sun.

While that all is true, there is a greater reason that this all works together.  It is not by accident that the earth is tilted just right and is the correct distance from the sun to allow life to flourish here with a supply of water as well.  Seed time and harvest time happen cyclically each year.  The earth goes through this pattern of birth, growth, ripening, death and rebirth to keep breathing new life into the earth year after year.  Season changes are a constant on which we can always depend.

That is because it was created to be that way by God.  He changes times and seasons on earth, but He himself will never change, nor will his love for us.  He gives us wisdom and knowledge to learn about his creation, but sometimes we lose sight of the original constant, our Season Changer!  The cycle of birth, death and rebirth on the earth reminds us of Jesus and his death and resurrection.  It also mirrors our baptism, as our old self dies and the Spirit plants faith in our hearts and breaths new life into us.

Daniel 2:20-23 ESV  “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, to whom belong wisdom and might. He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding; he reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him. To you, O God of my fathers, I give thanks and praise…”

Dear Father in heaven, our great Season Changer, blessed be your name forever and ever!  You are the creator of all things, including the patterns of change we see year after year.  We thank you that your love for us will never wax and wane like that.  You are our perfect constant in a world filled with change.  In spite of our repeated tries to honor you in all we do, we inevitably will fail to be perfect.  Yet you forgive us every time it happens, and it will happen as sure as the seasons change!  May we continue to bring the message to others of your loving forgiveness and salvation through Jesus, Christ, in whose name we pray.  Amen.

    1. What a lovely and thoughtful post. Fall is a beautiful time of the year that we can so enjoy God's great creation. It is also a time that we can thank God for what He has given us throughout the year. This post is very precious to me. Thank you so much!
