Women's Focus Ministries

We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,
Corinne Mustafa.......and the Writing Staff of "WFM"

One of our writers is writing a novel, called AFTER THE EVENT, that is published Saturdays separately from the daily posts. There is a link on the left side that will take you to the blog of the novel which is being posted in installments.

Sunday Writing... 8/19/18... SILVER LININGS

Good morning!

Today's devotional, "SILVER LININGS," is about how life throws us different things every day.  In these days on earth we will experience positive times as well as dark storm cloud times.  Sometimes God may remove the dark clouds, other times he wants us to experience the silver linings.

May your Sunday be blessed with silver linings!

Today's Devotional:

"SILVER LININGS"

by
Jan Andersen

Every day there is something new in our lives.  Every minute of every day is new.  We never know for sure what the new day will bring.  Sometimes it is just an “ordinary” day with nothing that stands out in our minds.  There are other days when we get a wonderful surprise - a new friend, an unexpected award, a beautiful sunrise.  Then there are days that just drag, when we are tired, depressed or frustrated.  Even worse, we may have dark "storm cloud" times when bad news arrives, the death of a loved one, a bad diagnosis for ourselves, or sinful actions or addictions that devastate us and our family.

But remember, every minute of every day is new, and therefore things can change.  We can choose how we respond to each moment.  God has promised to be with us every step of the way every day.  But what about those losses, deaths and terminal diagnoses?  Sometimes we can never get back what was lost, our health, our reputations, or our very lives here on earth.  In spite of that there can be a silver lining to the clouds.  Something positive can come of it.  That might be hard to believe when we are in the midst of the devastating times.  Sometimes we have to look really hard and pray for God to help us see it through his eyes.  The relative who died of cancer may have asked for donations to find a cure for that, and new breakthroughs are found because of all the donations.  We receive a terminal diagnosis but can live out our remaining time with renewed vigor for serving the Lord.  Our sinful actions can lead to repentance and dedication to help others caught in the same snare to turn their lives around and give their lives to Jesus.  The most important thing is that a faithful believer can rejoice in their ultimate salvation, regardless of what is going on in their lives.

Philippians 1:20  I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.

Dear Father God, we thank you for bringing us through difficult days and for clearing the dark clouds or helping us see the silver lining to those clouds.  Even when we falter and are unsure, we can trust that you have our best interest at heart in the ultimate outcome.  May our lives exalt you and what you do for us, and ultimately what you have already done by sending your Son to die in our place and freely give us forgiveness and salvation.  In Jesus’ name,  Amen.
