Friday Writing...8/17/18..."HIS LOVE ENDURES"

Good Morning,

The theme for today is taken from Psalm 136 with frequent repetition of  the chorus, "His love endures forever." Nothing will ever result in God withdrawing his love from us. Jody wrote, "He surrounds us with enduring, stable and constant love, every second of every day. There is nothing we can do that will change that love. It is God’s greatest force, His greatest glory and His greatest gift to us."

How grateful we can be knowing that "His love endures forever."

 "HIS LOVE ENDURES"

Psalm 136
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.
to him who alone does great wonders,
His love endures forever.
who by his understanding made the heavens,
His love endures forever.
who spread out the earth upon the waters,
His love endures forever.

 who made the great lights—
His love endures forever.
the sun to govern the day,
His love endures forever.
the moon and stars to govern the night;
His love endures forever.

Psalm 136 has a total of twenty-six verses and twenty-six times the author praises God for His unchanging, enduring love.

He praises Him for being the Lord of Lords and God above all man-made gods. He praises Him for doing great wonders. He praises Him for creating the heavens with the sun, moon and stars. He praises Him for creating the earth and the oceans.

The author proceeds to list the accomplishments of God for the people, praising Him after each item on the list. He brought Israel out of Egypt – His love endures forever. He led the people through the wilderness – His love endures forever. He smote great kings and gave their land to Israel – His love endures forever.

Twenty-six verses listing reasons to give thanks, followed by a chorus of “His love endures forever,” in each and every verse.

The author doesn’t just praise God in each verse, but is compelled to point out that each instance of God’s greatness and provision is an example of His enduring love.
What is enduring love? In our fast paced, instant gratification world, we are losing the essence of enduring love. Examples of self-promotion are more prominent than examples of self-sacrifice. But God’s love is the perfect example of what love is, and should be.Christian-lose-salvation.

God’s love endures forever.  To endure is to continue in the same state, to last, to remain firm without yielding or giving in. Endure has roots in Latin that mean “to harden.” Endure means to continue, to last and to persist.

God’s love enduring means it exists over an infinite period of time. His love is a process that goes on without ending. It is love that stresses the existing definition of love beyond what is normal or expected.

Enduring love implies resisting destructive forces. It is in a stable and constant resistant state to anything that comes against it. Enduring love outlasts all others and is obstinate. It is tenacious and can be described by the word “doggedness,” meaning it sticks with you and follows you everywhere.

God’s enduring love is immutable, incapable of change and not susceptible to any forces of change.

How thankful I am that God does not love the way people love each other! But how difficult it is to comprehend that kind of love for us when our example on earth is mankind’s flawed, conditional love – a love that changes or dies with feelings and emotions.

So many times, we feel unworthy of love. We get angry with ourselves for not doing what we think we should. We have flaws and faults. We go the wrong direction, sometimes on purpose.

We try, we succeed. We try, we fail. We love God. We forget about Him. We love people. We hurt people.

Everything we do matters to God, but it does not affect His love for us. He wants us to Succeed, but His love is still clinging to us when we fail. He desires our attention, but His love for us is incapable of changing when we ignore Him.

He surrounds us with enduring, stable and constant love, every second of every day. There is nothing we can do that will change that love. It is God’s greatest force, His greatest glory and His greatest gift to us.

How grateful I am that His love endures forever.
