Good morning.
I am posting the monthly writing for September early. My writer for Tuesday lives in Texas and her writing did not arrive in time.
Today's writing is written by Cathy Friberg who writes at the beginning of every month. This writing is called, "GREATER WORKS." The theme is that God is in Jesus and Jesus is in Him. Cathy wrote, "The one who never changes is still performing miracles, signs and wonders through His followers today. Healing, whether it comes through prayer, the laying on of hands, or through the wisdom and revelation of doctors and modern medicine, has its origin and power in the one true living God. We have our Lord's assurance that He will do even greater works through us than He did at the time of His earthly ministry.
The really exciting thing is that God is sharing his power so that we can do miraculous things that He has done. What do you think you could you do? It is time to make a plan.
God bless

"Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday,
today, and forever."
Hebrews 13:8

What a comforting thought in a world where everything around us is continually changing! In today's society, absolutes are becoming obsolete. Yet we, as followers of Jesus Christ, can rely on a Savior whose character and the nature of His deeds are constant and enduring.
When Jesus walked the earth 2000 years ago, we find in the Scriptures that He was loving, compassionate, and forgiving. Rather than keeping people in bondage to the "letter of the law," He looked at the circumstances and the condition of people's hearts and always extended mercy and grace. The Word declares...
"And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
Acts 10:38 (NLT)
The gospels abound with accounts of our Lord healing all who came to Him in need of deliverance from the affliction of the enemy.
The marvelous thing, however, is that this healing power did not end at the culmination of Jesus earthly ministry. In Mark we find that Jesus appeared to His disciples after His death and resurrection.
He said to them, Go into the world
and preach the gospel to all creation.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved,
but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
And these signs will accompany those who believe:
In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak
in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands;
and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all;
they will place their hands on sick people
in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands;
and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all;
they will place their hands on sick people
and they will get well."
Mark 16:15-18

This same authority has been given to us today! As believers in Jesus Christ, we have the power of the name and the blood of Jesus, to take authority over the tyranny and destruction of the evil one. In John 14 Jesus is speaking to Philip. The Lord declares,
who is doing His work.
Believe me when I say
that I am in the Father
and the Father is in me;
or at least believe on the evidence of the works themselves.
Very Truly I tell you, whoever believes in Me will do the works
that I have been doing, and they
will do even greater things than these,
because I am going to the Father."
John 14:10-12
(NIV)
The one who never changes is still performing miracles, signs and wonders through His followers today. Healing, whether it comes through prayer, the laying on of hands, or through the wisdom and revelation of doctors and modern medicine, has its origin and power in the one true living God. We have our Lord's assurance that He will do even greater works through us than He did at the time of His earthly ministry. Let's fill ourselves with faith as we read God's Word, declare His promises, and worship Him passionately. Then we can be His witnesses and continue to set the captives free. "Father, fill us with your Holy Spirit so that we may extend your Kingdom wherever You may lead us."
