Today's writing is by Jan Andersen, entitled "PRAYER WARRIORS." In it she refers to multiple Bible passages that speak about prayer. It tells us who should pray, how to pray, and what results to expect. The final quote is about a prayer warrior, "...one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God."
May we all be prayer warriors. Who are you praying for today? We are praying for you!
Blessings,
Jan and Corinne

Today's Devotional:
"PRAYER WARRIORS"
by
Jan Andersen
A warrior is someone who is set aside in their society to fight wars, to be in combat when needed, but also who lives by a particular code of conduct. This is as opposed to a soldier, who is someone who works for an army, and their job is to fight under orders of a commander for the time they are in that employment. A prayer warrior on the other hand is someone who dedicates themselves to praying for others, bringing their needs before the throne of God as taught in the Bible. Actually, all Christians are to be prayer warriors, praying to God the Father in the name of Jesus his Son through faith by the power of the Holy Spirit.
John 16:23 (ESV) [Jesus said] Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you.
Ephesians 6:18 (ESV) Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
God tells us throughout the scriptures that he wants us to come to him in prayer, assuring us that he hears us and will answer us when we ask in faith and according to his will.
1 John 5:14-15 (ESV) And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
He answers us because he cares for us, not because of anything we have done to earn it.
1 Peter 5:7 (ESV) Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
He will give us help in time of need.
Hebrews 4:16 (ESV) Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
We have confidence that he will work all things for good for all believers.
Romans 8:28 (ESV) And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
Just like we understand warriors to be powerful, we are told that the prayer of a righteous person has great power, and that is from God working through it.
James 5:16 (ESV) Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.
A righteous person is one who is forgiven through faith in Christ Jesus, not because of anything she has done. It was Jesus who taught us to pray for that forgiveness of sins when he taught us The Lord's Prayer.
Matthew 6:12 (ESV) Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
So, we Christians have a duty to go to God the Father in prayer through faith in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit with our requests for ourselves and others, praying with confidence that God will answer us according to his will and will forgive us and work all things for our good. We are his mighty Prayer Warriors!
Colossians 4:12 (ESV) ...one of you, a servant of Christ Jesus, greets you, always struggling on your behalf in prayers, that you may stand mature and fully assured in all the will of God.
Dear Father in heaven, please forgive us of all things we have done wrong, known or unknown to us. Thank you for the promise of your mercy and love. We bring to you the following petitions….. (insert your prayer requests) if it be according to your will. We ask these things through faith by the power of your Holy Spirit, and in the name of your Son, Jesus, who reign with you as one in all glory, Amen.
