Tuesday's Devotional
The Womb of God
You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit them together in my
mother’s womb.
mother’s womb.
Psalm 139:13
On New Years Eve, 2000, you remember that. When the digits went over 1999 it was expected that the digital world would come to the end of life as we knew it. Our worry was not God's plan. Well on that New Years Eve I was walking on the Trinidad Beach in Northern California. The similes and comparisons that were running through my mind were amazing and I ran back to the car to get a pen and notebook to write them down. Later I went back to my friend's house to write my poem. The title was "Womb of God." This is the background of the premise about which I am writing.
While I was on the beach on that last day of 1999 I believe God gave me a metaphor for His Creative work and the Creation of all that is on the Earth and indeed in the Universe. As I looked around I began to think that we humans are growing and getting all that we need to be able to be born into Paradise. Just as a baby in the womb gets what is needed to be born and live in the world, we are are living on earth getting what we need to be born into Eternity. Because when we are birthed into the world it is not our final home.
It is a different kind of womb, I believe that He was saying to me that here on earth we are in His womb getting the things needed to move into wholeness of a person who is accepted into Eternal Life complete and able to live in our final home. All we will need there is the glory of God around us.

"Why Not Smile and Give Your Face A Rest!"
An old preacher was dying. He sent a message for his doctor and his lawyer, both church members, to come to his home. When they arrived, they were ushered up to his bedroom. As they entered the room the preacher held out his hands and motioned for them to sit, one on each side of his bed. The preacher grasped their hands, sighed contentedly, smiled and stared at the ceiling.
For a time, no one said anything. Both the doctor and lawyer were touched and flattered that the preacher would ask them to be with him during his final moments. They were also puzzled; the preacher had never given them any indication that he particularly liked either of them. They both remembered his many long, uncomfortable sermons about greed, covetousness and avaricious behavior that made them squirm in their seats.
Finally, the doctor said, "Preacher, why did you ask us to come?" The old preacher mustered up his strength, then said weakly, "Jesus died between two thieves; and that's how I want to go."

What a wonderful God we have—he is the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the source of every mercy, and the one who so wonderfully
comforts and strengthens us in our hardships and trials.
And why does he do this?
And why does he do this?
So that when others are troubled, needing our sympathy and encouragement,
we can pass on to them this same help and comfort God has given us.
