Good morning
So often we hear the word sweet attached to our Lord's name and rightly so.
How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
In a believer's ear.
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds
And drives away his fear.
Old Lutheran Hymnal #364
Oh, how comforting Your sweet name is, Lord Jesus. Just hearing it brings peace that floods over us, especially when we are in need. Our minds move to the promises You made and we remember to call on You in the day of trouble. You will deliver us and we will glorify You. In every situation, we are to pray, praise, and give thanks.
We know to cast all our cares on You, because You care for us. What great relief it is to place them on You and get out from under their smothering, oppressive weight.
accusations, makes us feel so guilty, we find ourselves too ashamed to face God. The result is turning and running from our Lord rather than running to Him as fast as we are able. A heartfelt, "I'm sorry, Lord", is all God needs to forgive us! He already knows what is in our hearts anyway.
We must forgive ourselves as well. God, our Father, has forgiven us because of our faith in Christ. After confessing, we stand before Him sinless and cleansed.
The death and resurrection of Jesus has made us blameless through our faith in Him.
What could be sweeter? Ah, Sweet Jesus, we are so grateful for Your ultimate sacrifice that gave us our salvation. It's no wonder Your name is sweet in a believer's ear. Instead of facing doom and damnation, we look forward to eternity in Your presence in Heaven! All that, because You loved us with an everlasting love!
Today's writing is titled, "Sweet Name of Jesus," and it was written by Karen Bennett. Her topic is the name of Jesus and what that name stands for in our lives. It is comforting and brings peace. You have told us You will help us and uphold us with Your righteous right hand. The solace that brings is incomparable.

Oh Sweet Jesus, You loved us so.
Willingly to the cross You did go.
We are cleansed through belief, of all our sin
And know which door we will enter in.
Eternity with You in heaven above
Waits for us due to Your unending love!
