Today I met a college friend, Jane, and another friend, Susan, who had been Jane's friend from her childhood. We get together two or three times a year to share lunch in various restaurants. Today we went to a restaurant on the water in Oakland. We enjoyed the food and the view from our window table. It is always nice to meet old friends.They are treasures from God that make life more special.

The Devotional component in the Friday Writings of Women's Focus Ministries is titled, "Keys That Reinforce" and was co-written by Brother Thomas Ukwute and Jody Ward. They wrote that there are certain things that Christians need develop in order to honor God. There are some very important keys that, once learned, that have an influence on ourselves and others. Jody wrote, "Trust in the Lord. Lean on Him. Rely on Him." Brother Thomas wrote, "Are there those that honor the Lord, listening and obeying the words of His servant?" Reading this devotional to enlighten yourself in the methods you can use to achieve this.

Another said "Yea, me too. I've got hundreds living in my belfry and in the narthex attic.
I've even had the place fumigated, and they won't go away."

Who is there among you that fears and
reveres Jehovah God? Are there those that honor the Lord, listening and obeying
the words of His servant? Yet, that one may walk in darkness or have walked
through places where there is not even a ray of light. He may be groping in the
dark or not know where he’s going.
Let him trust in the Lord.
Let him be
confident in the name of the Lord.
Let
him lean upon, and rely on, his God.
Jeremiah 32.27
There are keys to having influence that endures
beyond our actions and continues to have spiritual impact on those who our
lives touch.
1.The Fear of God.
Having divine reverence for who He
is, the fear of God is the doorway to entering the realm of spiritual
usefulness. It holds the key to enjoying divine unction, the oil of holy
fervor, in our lives and ministry
2. Obedience to God's voice.
Living
in obedience to God's voice puts us on the platform of excellence. Obedience is
the key to maintaining the foundation of grace through which God releases His
anointing on our lives and work.
3. Consistency.
Having a consistent spiritual walk with God creates
testimonies that stand the test of time. It is a necessary ingredient to
becoming a role model to follow. Since consistency is grown though days, weeks,
and years of faithful service, it is the key to our influence and the affect we
have on other’s lives.
4. Cultivating Good Spiritual Values.
Values, principles and standards are the key to developing
character and discipline. They ground us and anchor us. And we cannot have
lasting influence and eternal impact without character & discipline.
Trust in the Lord. Lean on Him. Rely on Him.
Continue to grow and develop the keys to lifelong spiritual success. His light
will shine brightly on your efforts.

A Sure Cure
Three Pastors in the south were having lunch in a diner.
One said "Ya know, since summer started I've been having trouble with bats in my loft and attic at church. I've tried everything--noise, spray, cats--nothing seems to scare them away.
Another said "Yea, me too. I've got hundreds living in my belfry and in the narthex attic.
I've even had the place fumigated, and they won't go away."
The third said, "I baptized all mine, and made them members of the church...
Haven't seen one back since!!!"

The Dead Church
A new Pastor in a small Oklahoma town spent the first four days making personal visits to each of the members, inviting them to come to his first services.
The following Sunday the church was all but empty. Accordingly, the Pastor placed a notice in the local newspapers, stating that, because the church was dead, it was everyone's duty to give it a decent
Christian burial. The funeral would be held the following Sunday afternoon, the notice said.
Morbidly curious, a large crowd turned out for the "funeral." In front of the pulpit, they saw a closed
coffin, smothered in flowers. After the Pastor delivered the eulogy, he opened the coffin and invited his congregation to come forward and pay their final respects to their dead church.
Filled with curiosity as to what would represent the corpse of a "dead church," all the people eagerly lined up to look in the coffin. Each "mourner" peeped into the coffin then quickly turned away with a guilty, sheepish look.
In the coffin, tilted at the correct angle, was a large mirror.

Acting Up In Church
One Sunday in a Midwest City, a young child was "acting up" during the morning worship hour.
The parents did their best to maintain some sense of order in the pew but were losing the battle.
Finally, the father picked the little fellow up and walked sternly up the aisle on his way out.
Just before reaching the safety of the foyer, the little one called loudly to the congregation,
"Pray for me! Pray for me!"
