First Writing of the Month for February... "MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE"...2/3/20

Good morning,

Today's writing is shared by Cathy Friberg who writes at the beginning of every month. The writing  is called, "MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE which discusses how people can find joy in music and share that joy with others. Music is one of the gifts humankind have received from God. Cathy wrote, Father, you have granted us so many expressions of your love. We thank you for all of your delightful demonstrations of your affection for us. We are especially grateful for the precious gift of music. May we remember to offer it back to you through our praise and worship. In Jesus name, Amen."

Take God's gift of music and and use it to bless Him and yourself.

Blessings from
Cathy

Today's Devotional
"MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE"
Written by
Cathy Friberg

With Valentine's day approaching, we think on the theme of love. Scripture declares that "God is love." He is the embodiment of this virtue. God manifests His love for us each and every day. He showers us with marvelous gifts. We have been granted God's glorious natural wonders in creation, His gifts of mercy, compassion, forgiveness, and of the promise of eternal life.

One of the blessings God has bestowed upon us is that of music. Each morning I try to start off the day by worshiping and praising God through song. I sing along with the hymns I find online. It is a time of great peace and joy as I hear the splendid musical compositions available each day. I was especially enraptured by an accapella spiritual arrangement the other morning.

As I listened, it dawned on me that I have never stopped to thank our Lord for the pleasure He affords us through music. My heart's desire is to minister to the Lord in song. However, I must admit that my own soul is blessed and nurtured as I sing and hear the melodies and words of the great Christian hymns.

Our ability to appreciate music is also a gift from God. He has designed us to respond to it in such a wonderful way. I think of even how King Saul, troubled by an evil spirit was quieted when he heard David's stringed instrument playing.

 "Whenever the spirit
from God came on Saul,
David would take up his lyre and play.
Then relief would come to Saul;
he would feel better,
and the evil spirit
would leave him."
1 Samuel 16:23

Music truly is a powerful force. It can be a panacea and medicine for the soul. Our all wise and brilliant creator has blessed us mightily with it.

Father, you have granted us so many expressions of your love. We thank you for all of your delightful demonstrations of your affection for us. We are especially grateful for the precious gift of music. May we remember to offer it back to you through our praise and worship. In Jesus name, Amen.

"Every gift God freely gives us
 is good and perfect,
streaming down

from the Father of lights,
who shines from the heavens

with no hidden shadow
or darkness and is never

subject to change."
James 1:17
