Good Morning,
The writing today encourages us to avoid just drifting through life. When we do we end up with few accomplishments and a basically wasted life. Carol wrote, "The danger of drifting is that a person can stray so far from God that faith doesn't mean much anymore and life is lived apart from God."
A good idea to avoid becoming a drifter is plan on a daily basis what you will do to remain close to God and to live for Him.
Best wishes for a Blessed Easter.

"DRIFTING"

"We must pay more
careful attention,
therefore, to what we have heard,
so that we do not drift
away."
Hebrews 2:1
Most people are
familiar with the phrase "Use it or lose it." This can pertain
to any number of areas in life. The same goes for the Christian and
faith. There is a real danger of slowly and imperceptibly drifting away
from the faith. Every day we either grow closer to God or drift farther
away.
There is no status quo, nothing is static in life. This
drifting away often starts in youth when a person has just completed
confirmation class and thinks they have "graduated." Later on
adults cut down to just attending one hour of worship a week, maybe with one
hour of Bible class.
The rest of the week the Bible sits unopened on
the shelf. Prayers are sporadic when a person is in trouble and really
needs God's help. Some people think they can be "spiritual"
apart from fellowship with other believers.
The Bible states that
whoever "believes" will be saved. This involves trust in God
and a true personal relationship with Him. The danger of drifting is that
a person can stray so far from God that faith doesn't mean much anymore and
life is lived apart from God. Without oars or a motor to propel you
toward something the boat only drifts away. That care you aren't drifting
away from God.

Time is moving on and when it passes we are left to move on
in the way we can. We can use time that we have or we can
just drift and achieve nothing.
What do you think God looks for in us?
