Women's Focus Ministries

We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,
Corinne Mustafa.......and the Writing Staff of "WFM"

One of our writers is writing a novel, called AFTER THE EVENT, that is published Saturdays separately from the daily posts. There is a link on the left side that will take you to the blog of the novel which is being posted in installments.

Tuesday Writing...3/12/19...Study To Shew Thyself Approved"

Good Morning,

Have you ever noticed that some people do not want to do things for themselves but rather want people to provide things for them. They wait for other to show their insights to them. It can happen in church where they wait for the pastor to feed them or in class waiting for the teacher to enlighten them. They do not study the Bible to know God more intimately. Sandy Billingham is the author of this writing, and she wrote, "I truly want to be that daughter that studies to show myself approved in the Lord's eyes, diligently seeking His truths all my days."

This is how Sandy and people who are diligent like her learn.

Diligent in Jesus,
Sandy Billingham

"Study To Shew Thyself Approved"

My husband and I had a day at the zoo recently. It is local and small and just right for us. We are captivated each time we go, as we stroll slowly by each animal or bird. We enjoy watching their actions and how they communicate with each other and even some times how they communicate (well I think they do) with us! We always have a great time no matter when we go.
This past time we purchased special food to feed specific animals.  My husband even hand fed the monkeys. It took a while for them all to catch on, but once they did, they couldn't get enough of the snack food.

We stopped by the petting zoo area and spent quite a lot of time feeding all the animals that were corralled there. We noticed most of the animals were more than happy to run after the food that was tossed, except one of them. Mr. Llama wanted to be hand fed. He didn't want to have to work for his food as the others did. He wanted one on one attention being hand fed.
He was relentless. I gave in one time and you would have thought he hadn't eaten for days. He literally wanted the whole cup of food.  Enough of that!! I decided to toss the food and allow the other animals to willingly hunt it down. Mr. Llama just sat back and watched in disgust unwilling to bow his head and hunt on the ground for the yummy morsels.

Isn't that how it can be for us some times in our growth with the Lord? We want the Pastor to hand feed us our spiritual food.  While he spends hours preparing for the sermons, we want to come to church, (maybe even late) and be fed one on one. We may have not made extra time to read and meditate on God's Word. We were so busy that studying the Word did not fit into our schedule. In the back of our mind we may be thinking, "I will get my portion in church this Sunday," instead of taking time bowing before the Lord and digging in His Word.
God tells us in His Word,
"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God,
a worker who does not need to be ashamed,
rightly dividing the Word of truth."

2 Timothy 2:15

I do not want be like Mr. Llama and think that I can always be hand fed by my Pastors. I truly want to be that daughter that studies to show myself approved in the Lord's eyes, diligently seeking His truths all my days. I am quite confident you feel the same way too!
