Women's Focus Ministries

We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,
Corinne Mustafa.......and the Writing Staff of "WFM"

One of our writers is writing a novel, called AFTER THE EVENT, that is published Saturdays separately from the daily posts. There is a link on the left side that will take you to the blog of the novel which is being posted in installments.

Monday Writing...3/4/19..."Looking for Reflected Light"

Good Morning,

The writing today, written by Lynda Kinnard, is about light and the different varieties in which light exists. We all know that Jesus is the Light of the world, and, when we follow Him, we will have the light of life. Lynda wrote, "The Lord is the Creator and Source of True Light.  He created the sun to pour natural light out into the universe.  And the moon and stars reflect that light."  We should always walk in the light He gives.

Have a great week!
Blessings from Lynda

"Looking for Reflected Light"
Written by
Lynda Kinnard

There is an amazing mural on the wall of a business in the neighborhood where I work in Oakland.  It was part of a mural festival last year, one of several in the city.  Painted to discourage graffiti.  Parts of it depict the city-scape at night, with variegated circles of white, yellow and orange representing points of light.  From a distance, if you use your imagination; you can almost see these light-like shapes as actual light.

This got me thinking of the differences between actual sources of light, depictions of light and sincere reflections of light.

The first gives true illumination;  vanquishing darkness and allowing us to see things as they are.  The second makes our overworked minds think that there is light, when we are actually standing in a gradual place that grows dimmer in such slow increments, we forget to light a candle or use the flashlight feature on our cell phone. The third kind of light is reflective; catching the actual light,  pouring it back towards the source and adding beauty to the things around
it; altering the view of those who may not realize the value of those reflections.

The Lord is the Creator and Source of True Light.  He created the sun to pour natural light out into the universe.  And the moon and stars reflect that light.  Reflective light is not just in the sky, or glass mirrors.  It is also in water, in polished metals and even grains of sand.  So many things reflect light.  We just have to look for it, pay attention to it and we will see it all around.

God's light is everywhere, and as believers, we should keep this in mind.  If we go somewhere and think His light is not there; find a mirror and look deep into your own eyes. Then turn around and show everyone His reflection!

"..and if you spend yourselves in behalf
of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed,
then your light will rise in the darkness,
and your night will become
like the noonday."
Isaiah 58:10

When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said,

I am the light of the world.
Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.
 John 8:12

Spread the "Light of the World"
that is Jesus shown here as a candle.
You can do this by
reflecting His shining light!
