Monday Writing...11/26/18..."THE REASON"

Good Morning,

It is a bit early to bring on our celebration of what some groups call "Advent." This year we get an extra week after Thanksgiving which occurred early this year,

Advent officially begins during the first week of December. The word Advent means "coming," and we are in a time of celebrating the approach of the birth of Jesus. What a wonderful celebration! Mary has already gone to see her cousin Elizabeth, who had never had a child. Now in her old age Elizabeth has conceived, and her child, John, will grow up to be the person who will baptize Jesus as He begins His ministry. Let this time be a time of prayer and continued gratitude which began on Thanksgiving. Have the fun of the cultural celebration as we get ready with gifts and decorations, but center on the real GIFT which was the most wonderful gift that mankind has ever received. 

Make Advent a time of prayer and awareness of what we really celebrate at the end of December.

  JESUS IS THE

    "REASON      

 FOR THE SEASON!"

While they were there,
the time came for
 her to give birth.

She gave birth to a Son, 
her Firstborn.

She wrapped Him
in a blanket
and laid Him in a manger,

because there was no room in the hostel.
