Friday Writing...11/2/18..."Remember It Well!"

Good Morning,

Today's theme is about the importance of remembering things that make us who we are and reflect what we have become. Jesus did this when he celebrated the things that the Jewish were molded by. It is very important to remember what we have loved and what we have to be grateful for. Karen wrote, "As you read your Bible, highlight passages that particularly move you or write them in a journal or notebook. When you want to spend more time with God and draw closer to Him, apply your verses to your life’s situation and pray them. You’ll be surprised at how easy it is."

Doing this helps you to attain greater understanding of God’s  word and yourself as well.

Today's Devotional

"Remember It Well!"
written by
Karen Bennett

As a child, I attended parochial school during my elementary years. As can be expected, we had “Memory work” every day and I learned lots of Scripture that has helped me throughout my life.

Memorizing verses from the Bible is a fantastic thing. It certainly doesn’t take the place of reading your Bible regularly, but it helps us at different times of our lives to be able to recall passages that are applicable to the situation at hand.

God’s promises hold true and He never wavers. It’s such a comfort to know those promises hold true, because God is always the same, yesterday, today, and forever.

There have been people in my life, as in everyone’s, who need encouragement at times, just as I do. We certainly don’t have a Bible with us at all times, so it’s a blessing, to draw from memory, verses that will encourage them and help them. There are verses in the Bible to cover any situation, anything and everything!

There have been many times I feel the Bible is called The Good Book for more than one reason. It not only tells us the story of God’s people and our magnificent Savior who died for our salvation  out of total love for us, but it is also a guidebook for living. It’s a book of instruction through and through.

Our loving Father breathed His word to the Bible’s authors, therefore, as we know, He is the actual author. He is a true father to His children and heeding His word can only bring us joy.

“Listen carefully to my words, Don’t lose sight of them.
Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
for they bring life to those who find them,
and healing to their whole body.”
Proverbs 4:20-22.

Give memorizing your favorite verses a try, as well as others you find that stir you. It’s part of letting them penetrate deep in our hearts and bring us life and and healing. As you read your Bible, highlight passages that particularly move you or write them in a journal or notebook. When you want to spend more time with God and draw closer to Him, apply your verses to your life’s situation and pray them. You’ll be surprised at how easy it is. It helps you to attain greater understanding of God’s word as well.

Gracious Father,

Your word is saturated with Your beautiful promises for our benefit. They bring us comfort, strength, encouragement, and joy, just to mention a few. You have given us total direction to live our lives for You in contentment and happiness as well as the knowledge of being  forgiven when we fail. Thank You for showing us the way. Your love and goodness never ends. We are grateful!

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
