Wednesday Writing...10/17/18..."Renewal of Attitudes"

Good Morning,

The theme for today covers the idea that people should let the Spirit renew our thoughts and attitudes.  (As shown in Ephesians 4:23) So often we let our attitude run rampant down roads that are not Godly. Is there a person alive that has not heard a parent or teacher tell them that their attitude needs adjusting? We begin to think we are all that and become too big for our boots. This is written about today by our writer, Elizabeth, who penned, "Attitude adjustments begin with your head.  It’s a quality decision to allow the Father to make a modification.  Once the head acknowledges the need for adjustment, the Spirit will lead the heart to correction, and correction allows for glory of God to be bigger in us."

This is something that everyone could work on to become a more Godly person.
Elizabeth

Today's Devotional
"Renewal of Attitudes"
Written by
Elizabeth McElderry

Do you remember as a child your parent saying: “You need an attitude adjustment”?  Maybe you were the know-it-all that knew better, or you didn’t like the chore that was handed down or maybe you had a sassy mouth.  Whatever it was, your thought pattern did not line up with the program and your parents were going to set you back in line.  Typically a “time out” was needed to give you a moment to reflect on how your actions. Time out was not pleasant but necessary for course correction and lesson learned.

Have you been feeling as if you’ve been in a bit of a time out with God recently?  Haven’t heard his sweet voice lately? Maybe you just haven’t been getting as much out of your devotional as normal or perhaps you just feel as though your prayers are bouncing off the ceiling.  “Where are you God?” you cry out.

 Thank God our faithful Father has promised that He will complete good work in us.  The Holy Spirit is there to shed light on whatever is keeping us from fully communing with him.  Whether it is thinking you know the plan more than God, complaining of an unfair burden, being disrespectful with others, or my personal favorite, the self-pity party because I forget who I am through Jesus, God has promised to work in us
.

You see, dear ones, even if we have the wrong attitude today the Good Father is faithful to show us where we need to re-align our thinking.  Scripture tells us...

"Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned
the truth that comes from Him, throw off your old sinful nature
and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.
 Instead, let the Spirit renew our thoughts and attitudes.
Eph 4:21-23

Did you notice the last line?  Let the Spirit renew our thoughts and attitudes.  Attitude adjustments begin with your head.  It’s a quality decision to allow the Father to make a modification.  Once the head acknowledges the need for adjustment, the Spirit will lead the heart to correction and correction allows for glory of God to be bigger in us.

Let the Spirit of God renew your thoughts
and change you--one attitude at a time.

"Positive Attitude Makes All the Difference"

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The man of few words and settled mind is wise;
therefore, even a fool is thought to be wise when he is silent.
It pays him to keep his mouth shut.
Proverbs 17:27-28
The person who is willing to listen
will learn and become more wise.
