Tuesday Writing...18/23/18..."Plank in Your Own Eye"

Good Morning,

Today's writing is about the lack of empathy that people give or receive. People are often judgemental or others when they hear of some issue that they are going through. Such behavior is easy to give others but hard to receive from others. Sandy wrote, "Let us always take heed that God has called us to extend His loving arms to those around us. As God's extravagant, abundant love flows continuously out of us, the speck's in our brother's eye will be the last thing that ever enters our hearts and minds."

"Plank in Your Own Eye"

".......but do not consider the plank in your own eye."
A long time friend of mine recently went to the Doctor for a specific problem they were experiencing. It seemed the problem stemmed with a issue this person has had for many years. They shared with the Doctor and nurses what they felt caused the problem and were very open and honest. Later my friend shared with me that they sensed the Medical staff were secretly judging them for the problem they were experiencing. They even shared they felt the nurses were very condescending as well.

In my heart I thought to myself, "How can that be?" The very place you should feel safe and protected should be a Doctor's office or a Hospital. We all want to feel like the Medical staff are there to help us and not to judge us or point a finger at us. The last place you want to experience shame, guilt and condemnation would be a Doctor's office or Hospital.

As my friend was sharing with me, I reminded them that none of us have it together. We all have hang'ups of some kind whether that be pride, prejudice, gossip, evil thoughts, thinking of our selves more highly than we ought, addictions and the list goes on. We all fall short in some way, including the Medical staff that attended to my friend.
A scripture that addresses well what my friend was experiencing from the Medical staff is located in Matthew 7:3,

"And why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye,
but do not consider the plank in your own eye?"
It is so easy for each of us to secretly judge what is going on in someone else's life, where as we forget our own short-comings. It is so easy for us to quickly point out the weaknesses in others, yet choose to overlook our own.

My thoughts veered back that day to the Medical staff and I was compelled to pray for each one. My prayer was that they would make the patients' feel very cared for and valued. Not only that, but the patients would experience much compassion and never feel they are in an environment of judgement.
Let us always take heed that God has called us to extend His loving arms to those around us. As God's extravagant, abundant love flows continuously out of us, the speck's in our brother's eye will be the last thing that ever enters our hearts and minds.

Beautiful Song Lyrics
The thing that often stands out to me in Christian song lyrics
is the wonderful Christian concepts that are so beautifully presented,
I keep thinking about this, and so I decided to feature the lyrics of a song
every Monday. This song is written as the some very good news.
It is news of joy for all of us.
Embrace and believe it!

"BEST NEWS EVER"

Some say, "Don't give up"

And hope that your good is good enough

Head down, keep on working

If you could earn it, you deserve it
Some say, "Push on through"
After all, it's the least that you can do
But don't buy, what they're selling
It couldn't be further from the truth
What if I were the one to tell you

That the fight's already been won

Well, I think your day's about to get better

What if I were the one to tell you
That the work's already been done
It's not good news
It's the best news ever
Some say, "Don't ask for help"

God helps the ones who help themselves

Press on, get it right

Otherwise, get left behind
Some say, "He's keeping score"
So try hard, then try and lean on God
Hold up, if this weren't true
Explain to me, what the cross is for
What if I were the one to tell you

That the fight's already been won

Well, I think your day's about to get better

What if I were the one to tell you
That the work's already been done
It's not good news
It's the best news ever
Best news ever
So won't you come

Come all you weary and your burdened

You heavy laden and you hurting

For all of you with nothing left
Come and find rest
What if I were the one to tell you

That the fight's already been won

Well, I think your day's about to get better

What if I were the one to tell you
That the work's already been done
It's not good news
It's the best news ever
Best news ever
It's not good news

It's the best news ever

Best news ever

It's not good news
It's the best news ever

(Song sung by Mercy Me)
