Saturday Writing...9/1/18...

Good Morning.

The theme of this writing is that life is a constant personal desire to be better and more successful in our battles with our challenges. What we really need is a Savior instead of relying on ourselves. Carol wrote, "Next time you look into your mirror at home, remember, it shows us our sins but also shows us our need for our wonderful Savior!"

Remember to reach out for help from the Savior today and every day.
Carol.

Today's Devotional

"IN THE MIRROR"
Written by
Carol Steficek

"For in my inner being I delight in God's law;but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members."
Romans 7:22, 23

We are all alike.  The law of God shows us how we look.  Our constant battle against sin isn't a pretty picture.  Take children for instance.  Just give each one a piece of cake and watch the sparks fly if one things the other has more.    Even as adults, much sibling rivalry occurs if a child thinks the parents are showing favoritism towards another and not them.

We are constantly comparing ourselves with others -- for accomplishments, possessions, money.  The list goes on.  As Christians, we can't accomplish anything for God and can't make ourselves "better" than everyone else by what we do.  Often we want to, but the ability to accomplish it on our own isn't there.  That's where the law really comes in -- it shows us our sins.  It also does something more for us, which is really good.

It shows us our need for a Savior.  And that is just what Jesus is.  He kept the law for us and sets us free from the bondage of sin.  In Jesus we can delight in the law.  He sent the Holy Spirit to indwell in us, so throughout life we can grow up into His likeness becoming more and more perfected until we reach heaven.

 Next time you look into
your mirror at home, remember,
it shows us our sins but also shows us our need for our wonderful Savior!
