Good Morning,
This is the first writing by a new member of our devotional staff. In the last two months we have added two new writers. One writes for Friday and Bre will be writing for Mondays.
The theme today is the story of the Exodus. There was a lot of wailing and complaining during the exit from Egypt. For many people trying something new and without history in their background. However, there are things to be learned from the experience and Bre has pointed them out to us. The most important truth here is that God always has our proverbial backs and He will fight for our needs. Bre wrote, "Can we just tell ourselves The Lord will fight for me. I’m going to watch Him come through for me and I’m going to stay calm.?' I believe we can."
And never forget...if God is for you who cam be against you?

Today's Devotional
"Just Stay Calm"
by
Bre Miller
As
the wife of a pastor and someone who doesn’t have the healthiest body and mind,
I need to be reminded of who I am in The Lord. In
the midst of the trials I am facing in my life, I’m reminded of Exodus 14.
The
Israelites were freed from The Egyptians, who had enslaved them, but the
Egyptians changed their minds.
As
Pharaoh approached, the people of Israel looked up and panicked when they saw
the Egyptians overtaking them. They cried out to the Lord, and they said to Moses...
Weren’t there enough graves
for us in Egypt?
for us in Egypt?
What have you done to us?
Why did you make us leave Egypt?
Why did you make us leave Egypt?
Didn’t we tell you this would happen while we
were still in Egypt?
We said, ‘Leave us alone! Let us be slaves to the
Egyptians.
It’s better to be a slave in Egypt than a corpse in the
wilderness!’”
But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid.
Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today.
The Egyptians you see
today will never be seen again.
The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay
calm.”
Exodus 14:10-14,
New Living Translation:
New Living Translation:
Two
things really stand out to me in this passage.
Firstly:
Moses says “Just stand still and watch
The Lord rescue you today,” What faith! Watch it happen. God is good and He
will get them through. He will save them. He will keep His promise.
Secondly: “The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.” The Lord of all….He will fight for us. The God who created the heavens and the earth is fighting for us, ladies!
The
same God who came through for The
Israelites, came through for us when He sent His Son to die for us on
that cross. To become a man, to live a sinless life and to die the most
gruesome death on that cross for us.
Isn’t
that amazing?
- Can we have the same faith Moses had, when we are dealing with finances?
- Can we have the same faith when we are struggling in our marriage?
- Can we have the same faith when we don’t know what tomorrow will bring?
- Can
we just tell ourselves
”The Lord will fight for me. I’m going to watch Him
come through for me and I’m going to stay calm.?”
I
believe we can.
Here
is a challenge for those of you reading this today:
Please write
Exodus 14:14 on a sheet of paper or a sticky note and put it on your mirror, or
somewhere in your house that you will see the most, to remind yourself that
God, the One and Only, the Creator, the Most High, is fighting for you.
