We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,

Friday Writing...6/8/18..."The House of The Lord"

Good Morning,

Karen writes today about what she called the house of the Lord. She lists strong points that are benefits to being involved in a church and being part of a church family. Karen wrote, "Heavenly Father, .....Help us to keep groups organized that will attract people to us and will accommodate all who attend, from young children to the elderly. Let us do all we can to help others “Remember the Sabbath Day”. Please bless our church homes by having them be central in our lives and become a center of activity for those around us as well."

Happy to be members of our particular church families.

Today's Devotional

"The House of The Lord"
by Karen Bennett

“Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy.”
Exodus 20:18.

(Third Commandment)

The church has been the hub of activity since Old Testament Temple times. Of course, the activities between then and now have totally changed. We attend church on Sundays and special holidays or celebration days to honor our Lord and His tremendous love and passion for us. We confess our faith as well as our sins. After we have confessed our sins, we receive absolution.

We have readings from the Bible, Old Testament, Epistle, and Gospel. We sing praises to our Almighty God, and worship Him with hearts so full of love, gratitude, and joy for our salvation. We hear a wonderful sermon to direct us on our path for the week, then partake of the Lord’s wonderful Supper, His body and blood, shed for the forgiveness of our sins. As the service concludes, we say The Lord’s Prayer and receive the beautiful benediction. With that, the service is just about completed, our souls strengthened, refreshed, at peace and one with God. There is no reason for any Christian to not want to attend and worship.

“I rejoiced with those who said to me,
‘Let us go to the house of the Lord’.”
Psalm 122:1.

In addition to the services, there are so many other activities that take place during the week as well as on Sundays. There are Bible Studies, classes of all varieties, VBS for a week in summer, youth activities, Sunday School, women’s group meetings, choir and other music practices, other meetings, and lots of fellowship activities.

Fellowship is a joy! Close friendships are formed and the gatherings strengthen us and keep us strong in our faith as we worship together and share our faith. There are hobby groups, parent groups, seniors groups, and those designed to assist those in need for a variety of reasons.

There is no greater feeling than participating with full hearts and voices raised in songs in praise to our Lord. Prayers set to music, of course. Sing - Worship - Praise! What a joy! What a wonder!

“Although I hope to come to you soon,
I am writing you these instructions so that if I am delayed,
you will know how people ought to conduct themselves
in God’s household, which is the church of the living God,
the pillar and foundation of the truth.
1 Timothy 3:14-15.

Bring your friends to church! There is something for all. Everyone can be fed and nourished at a church service by one or more things that are taking place. Because we are so nurtured at our services, imagine the good they would be for someone who has drifted away or has never known Christ. A person who feels empty can be so filled and the love that is so obvious and evident in church knows no human equal.

“And as he taught them he said,
‘Is it not written: My house will be called
a house of prayer for all nations’.”
Mark 11:17.

There is no place more comforting to be than in God’s house with Him. We’ve been commanded to teach all nations. Bring someone to church with you. Let them see first-hand why you feel the peace and comfort that you do. Let them feel the presence of God and see your joy!

The times we live in are becoming less tolerant of Christianity. Therefore, we need to stand strong. As an old hymn states, Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross. We need to be those soldiers. Share your faith with everyone and invite them to church.

“Let us not give up meeting together
as some are in the habit of doing,
but let us encourage one another —-
and all the more as you see the day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:25

Heavenly Father, may we promote Your church whenever we can. Help us to keep groups organized that will attract people to us and will accommodate all who attend, from young children to the elderly. Let us do all we can to help others “Remember the Sabbath Day”. Please bless our church homes by having them be central in our lives and become a center of activity for those around us as well. May it always be Sabbath in the Lord’s House.

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching
and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer
 Acts 2:42

In Jesus’ name. Amen.
