Friday Writing...6/22/18..."The Good Things"

Good Morning,

The theme of today's writing is that we should not dwell on things that are worrying or unpleasant. Scripture tells us to think on things that are excellent and pleasing...hence the name of this writing, "The Good Things." Karen wrote, "The beautiful words of His promises, His truth, His purity, and all the other good things are at the forefront of our minds and deep in our hearts. It surely doesn’t mean we don’t fall, but we get up again with the helping hand of Jesus to stabilize us. Think of the good things! Think about Jesus!"

"The Good Things"

What dominates your thoughts the majority of the time? Do you think of all that’s wrong in the world? Maybe you’re bogged down by career problems or even family problems, or even your health. There could be someone in your life who is constantly causing you to worry or aggravation. Are you letting it control your life? 



     




“.....whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, 
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable
 —- if anything is excellent and praiseworthy —- 
think about such things.”  
Philippians 4:8.


Our Lord tells us not to be anxious about anything but to bring our prayers and petitions to Him with thanksgiving. When we do, it frees our minds to think of the good things! And, in doing that, the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Our faith is being protected. The trusting and believing increases our faith as we feel the peace and calm it brings!

Who wouldn’t rather have peace and calm in their hearts and minds by knowing our loving and mighty God is in control and He will be with us always, to the end of the age. He will continue to strengthen us and uphold us as we lean on Him in total trust! Do we want to worry about anything?  No!

I can remember sitting in my first-grade classroom, listening to my teacher explain the Bible verse on being faithful to death and then receiving a crown of life. At six years old I decided I wanted that crown.

Now, all these many years later, I still want that crown, although you wouldn’t know it by some of the things I’ve put myself through. Learning how to put our trust in Jesus and thinking of the good things, the truth of God’s word rings through. The beautiful words of His promises, His truth, His purity, and all the other good things are at the forefront of our minds and deep in our hearts. It surely doesn’t mean we don’t fall, but we get up again with the helping hand of Jesus to stabilize us. Think of the good things! Think about Jesus!

 Lord God, Your word is there for us to dwell on 
and believe in and all the good things it brings with it. 
Please fill us to overflowing! In Jesus’ precious name. 
Amen.
