Women's Focus Ministries

Women's Focus Ministries

We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,
Corinne Mustafa.......and the Writing Staff of "WFM"

One of our writers is writing a novel, called AFTER THE EVENT, that is published Saturdays separately from the daily posts. There is a link on the left side that will take you to the blog of the novel which is being posted in installments.

Monday Writing..“Thrills, Chills, & Adventure Await”...5/14/18

Today's Devotional

“Thrills, Chills, & Adventure Await”
by
Collette Phillips

Sam, despite not being able to swim, goes after a lone Frodo in the boat. Frodo pulls Sam up out of the water, then Sam says: "Gandalf said to me, 'Don't you leave him Sam, Wise Gamgee.' and I don't mean to, I don't mean to."
Another quote from the movie...

“Frodo: I wish the ring had never come to me.
I wish none of this had happened!
Gandalf: So do all who live to see such times,
but that is not for them to decide.
All we have to decide
is what to do with the time
that is given us.”

The above are obviously quotes from “Lord of The Rings.” As written by JRR Tolkien. The books, and hence the movies, are replete with very specific symbolism. This is fun, adventure-filled, reading, and movie-watching. My prayer is that all who read The Bible be enthralled and captivated by the fun, adventure-filled Word of God.

That’s probably not a concept that many have of His Word, but I submit that this may merely be because we haven’t nurtured the vertical relationship with Christ our Redeemer.
His death and resurrection purchased us direct access to The Father.

We are each one afforded a Robe of Righteousness. The ring symbolizes, as all of the other rings do, that sin-nature that’s there waiting to bind us all, to rid us of our Divine peace, and joy.

The Father told Adam and Eve of all the garden and fruit trees that were available, fresh and ripe for the picking, that the only tree they should not eat of was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

The Ring symbolizes this. Satan told them that if they ate they would not surely die.

They didn’t die in the flesh immediately, but they died eventually in the flesh. In spirit and in flesh, they immediately separated themselves from God The Father who would meet and walk with them, in the cool of the day. Suddenly, they became aware of their nakedness, and insufficiency. They became aware of performance-driven acceptance when that was not what The Father wanted from them. This was not The Father’s perfect plan for their lives.

“If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper,
that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth,
whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him
or know Him, but you know Him because
He abides with you and will be in you.”
(John 15:12-17)

My challenge for us all is to speak with Him each morning, first thing, so that we will be filled, equipped, emboldened, and empowered to take a never-ending journey on a GREAT Adventure with God the Father, God The Son, and God The Holy Spirit.

Peace, Love, & Joy,
Collette
