Friday Writing...6/1/18..."Faith Like A Child"

Good Morning,

The writing today is about the faith and innocence of children as seen by Jesus and as written about in Scripture. (I kept thing pink and blue for girls and boys, so you will see a lot of that in the writing. I hope you will cut me some slack...Corinne) Back to business, children are filled with trust and with a sweet faith. Adults would do well to emulate these characteristics. Karen wrote, "Abba, help us to be like your beloved little children by placing our faith, total confidence, and complete trust in You. Let us always remember.....Let our hearts rejoice in childlike faith as your much-loved children! In Your name, we pray, Jesus. Amen."

So we should teach our children well and also learn from them.

Today's Devotional

"Faith Like A Child"
by Karen Bennett

How often have we heard those words or something similar? We all know how important children were to Jesus. He spoke of them many times. We can just imagine the smile on His face and the love in His eyes for the children He encountered.

   We know of a time He was teaching and parents were bringing their children to Him. His disciples tried to keep the children away from Jesus  so He wouldn’t be bothered. Jesus became indignant and rebuked the disciples. He said,

“Let the children come to me;

do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”

Matthew 19:14.

“Truly, I say to you,

whoever does not receive

the kingdom of God like a child
shall not enter it.”
Luke 18:17.

   Children accept what they are taught and believe it with all their hearts. Childlike faith and love open the door to God’s heart.

   When trouble comes about, the person with childlike faith looks straight to God, as we used to look to our earthly parents when we were children, and that person has full trust in God to take care of it. They don’t spend hours or days, or perhaps longer still wondering and worrying. They pray, turn it over to God, and wait for His guidance, confident in every step of the way with Christ!

    Some with faith like a child may not understand certain things God says in the Bible and have questions on how some of the events could have happened. Instead of pondering it over and again, they simply accept God’s word that it did happen. Maybe it was a miracle. They accept it as the truth it is!

   The Bible is God’s word, and it was God-breathed to the authors. We are learning from God Himself through Scripture.

“All your children shall be taught by the Lord,
and great shall be the peace of your children.”
Isaiah 54:13.

We must also become like little children and humble ourselves. We must learn to forgive. Believers are God’s own forgiven children, thus they must forgive as well
.
     Have you ever noticed how easily and completely kids forgive? Kids can play together, good friends, and an incident arises. The children begin to argue and are soon fighting verbally and possibly even physically. The parents get involved and the argument becomes quite intense. Within a few days, perhaps much sooner, the children have happily resumed playing together, getting along splendidly, but the parents are not speaking to one another. Sometimes it even becomes permanent. They should humble themselves like the children, forgive, and great peace will be theirs.

    Abba, help us to be like your beloved little children by placing our faith, total confidence, and complete trust in You. Let us always remember...

“See that you do not despise one of these little ones.
For I tell you that in heaven their angels
always see the face of my Father who is in heaven.”
Matthew 18:10.

Let our hearts rejoice in childlike faith as your much-loved children! In Your name, we pray, Jesus. Amen.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You, who are on the road
Must have a code
That you can live by
And so
Become yourself
Because the past
Is just a good-bye
Teach you children well
Your father's hell did slowly go by
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picks
The one you'll know by
Don't you ever ask them why
If they told you, you would cry
So just look at them and sigh
And know they love you
And you of tender years
Can't know the fears
That your elders grew by
And so please help
Them with your youth
They seek the truth
Before they can die
Teach your parents well
The children's hell
Will slowly go by
And feed them on your dreams
The one they picks
The one you'll know by
Don't you ever ask them why
If they told you, you would cry
So just look at them and sigh
And know they love you
