Monday Writing..."The Balm"...4/23/18

Good morning,

The theme for this morning is that we something that looks lovely can be something that challenges us with painful events. Collette used the jellyfish as an example of this. There is a medical remedy for this. In life, we have high times and low times to walk through. The "medicine" is available that ease the life pains. Collette wrote from where that remedy comes, "There’s a Balm for that. His Name is Wonderful. His Name is Jesus. Apply His Love, and His Word, liberally."Let Him soothe your hurts, and heal your soul." 

Be sure to avail yourself of the prescriptions that God has given to us to apply when challenges are more than we can deal with.

Today's Devotional

"The Balm"

Is there no medicine in Gilead?
 Is there no physician there?
Why doesn’t God do something?
Why doesn’t he help?

Jeremiah 8:22

When I was a young girl, occasionally, my grandparents would take us to the beach. I recall being in the surf about belly deep, and bouncing up, and down with the waves. I remember walking back to the more shallow part of the shore, and then back to the deeper, again, flirting with the depths. One of those jaunts back, or forth, found me in thigh deep water, jumping waves, and ...then ... suddenly ...

    LEGS STINGING!

              Yep. Jellyfish! 

                      I’d been ‘got.’

      

              Was I doing anything wrong to get ‘got?’   

No. I was not, but this was the home of the jellyfish, and merely my occasional playground. Jellyfish defend their territory when a threat is perceived or identified. It happens to the best of us, even when we aren’t doing anything wrong. Sometimes we get stung. 

      

    The fix?

          Calamine lotion. 

                It was a salve that cooled the burns. 

The Word talks about a Balm in Gilead. There is a Balm in Gilead. Sometimes our hurts occur when we’ve done nothing wrong. We are innocently playing, and bouncing in the surf of life, frolicking, and enjoying life. 

There’s a Balm for that.

His Name is Wonderful.

His Name is Jesus. 

Apply His Love, and His Word, liberally. 

Let Him soothe your hurts, and heal your soul.

There are many animals that have been created
that are very beautiful, but dangerous.
The Jellyfish is one of those animals.
It will not injure you causing death,
but it will give you a painful sting.

The good news is that there are medicines 

to help you when this happens.
Life is like this and God is our "physician"

when the challenges of life require

His "healing touch."
