Women's Focus Ministries

We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,
Corinne Mustafa.......and the Writing Staff of "WFM"

One of our writers is writing a novel, called AFTER THE EVENT, that is published Saturdays separately from the daily posts. There is a link on the left side that will take you to the blog of the novel which is being posted in installments.

Monday Writing..."Living in Harmony...7/31/17

Good morning,

In today's writing Corinne Mustafa took a graphic of a worldly list of affirmations for living in harmony and rewrote some of them with a Godly slant. God is the author of all things that we believe which regulate our lives. Corinne wrote, "I decided to create my own list of Christian affirmations to replace the worldly ones here. Some of these affirmations are right on; some are not."

It is hoped that the  explanations provide good food for thought.

God bless
Corinne

"Affirmations for Living in Harmony"

20 CHRISTIAN AFFIRMATIONS
FOR LIVING IN HARMONY

When I first saw this collection I though..."how cool"...we all need guidelines about how to live in harmony, I only read the name of this collection and saved the graphic to use here. I uploaded the graphic and proceeded to read some of the affirmations. To my shock the things listed had no relationship to how we as Christians should look at reasons to live in harmony. It was kind of new age in philosophy So I decided to create my own list of Christian affirmations to replace the worldly ones here. Some of these affirmations are right on; some are not. The red ones are good for everyone when read with a Godly slant. The purple ones are the ones that I felt needed to be tweeked.

1. I am grateful to be alive.

I am grateful to God for my life and to be alive so that I can serve Him and be His tool
to accomplish things that he chose me to do.

1. I AM giving attention to what really matters.

3. I choose to be a humble servant.

4. I am feeling immense gratitude.

5. Joy is my natural state.

Joy is something that we should hang onto all the time. Joy is not happiness. However, even when things are not going the way we hope, we can be joyful for all God has provided for us...especially the promise of eternity.

6. The universe gives me everything I desire.

God gives me gifts and blessings, but some things I will never receive according to His plan. Sometimes I receive something that He has ordained for me according to His wisdom about what I really need.

7. I enjoy being present.

Well I am wondering what the opposite of present is. 1) Could it be a jail sentence? 2) Could it be a mental illness? 3)Could it be mourning over someone's death? 4) Or could it be our own death which takes our presence away from all we have known? Except for the fourth one the others could be so hurtful or distracting that a person is in some kind of fog. Still it is good to know that when suffering with these of any number of issues we have God is by our side using it for our refining. Then we come to the fourth one where we have reached the end of life. Sometimes we fear the unknown and finality of death; we want to hand around longer to see what will happen next in our family. etc. The important thing is what lies ahead of us when we reach the end of our time on earth. WOW!!!

8. I love and appreciate myself.

We should appreciate ourselves based on the idea that "God did not make any Junk." Sometimes we suffer from low self esteem and should keep that quote in mind.

9. Living prosperity is my daily practice.

This is quite a claim...lol. We do our best to provide for our families, but prosperity is not a given.

10. I give and receive love effortlessly.

I do not know how effortlessly it is. However if we do our best to treat others the way we should love could be a result.

11. I choose to live the life of my dreams.

Just choose your dreams wisely.

12. I feel the intuitive nudge to take inspired action.

The problem with this one is the word, intuitive, which implies that we inspire ourselves. I believe that that nudge comes from God who inspires us..

13. My heart is overflowing with perpetual bliss.

This goes back to the word, "joy," Joy should be perpetual, but bliss is not always present. Happiness can be elusive.

14. I am down to earth and divinely connected.

Because we are down to earth we can be divinely connected if we pay attention.

15. I tap into the organic creative flow.

The creative flow is not only organic. God is the inspiration for the creative flow. He is the Creator.

16. My will is aligned with the Source.

17. Persistence and patience come easily to me.

They never come easily but we would do well to try to cultivate them.

18. I harmonize the situations in my life.

This is taking a lot of personal credit. Again God is the One who leads us into this behavior.

19. The Energy of the universe is with me.

This is true as long as you define the "Energy of the Universe" as God.

20. I am living in accordance with my Higher Purpose.

Again, his is true as long as you define "My Higher Purpose" as God.

And that’s about it, friends.
Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair.
Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable.
Do all that, and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure.
Greet one another with a holy embrace.
All the brothers and sisters here say hello.

  1. Corinne, I like your advice on #11 to "choose your dream wisely." We live in a culture that tells us to pursue our dreams, and "do what makes you happy." That is good advice when it comes to choosing a career, however, it shouldn't be the thing that drives you. When I see that advice, I often think of "the Greatest Generation," and all of those young men who returned from the war to working jobs that may not have been their dream, but that provided for their families. Even today, many who can't afford college work 1,2, or 3 jobs to make ends meet--they don't have the luxury of "doing what makes you happy." I think we have lost the idea that sometimes, doing the right thing, providing for our families, and doing our work "as unto the Lord," CAN be enough. Thanks for a great blog!
