Thursday Writing by Brother Thomas Ukwute & Jody Ward.......6/8/17

Good morning,

Brother Thomas and Jody Ward are the co authors of today's writing, "Honor God and Draw Near to Him."   The theme is that when a person chooses to honor God, He will draw near to that person and blessings will be given to him or her. Here is a qoutation from their writing. "The only way to enjoy His presence and blessings is to place His glory and honor first in everything you do and in everywhere you go. Worship Him in truth and in spirit; put His fear before you in everything you will do today and heaven will respond to your heart desires with speed."

This would be a worthy talent and habit to cultivate.

God bless
Brother Thomas, Jody, and Corinne

Today's Devotional
"Honor God and Draw Near to Him"

Daniel made up his mind, and determined in his heart, that he would not eat the king’s food or drink his wine. Even though the king’s rich fare was the finest in the land, the food did not meet Jewish dietary laws and may have been offered to the Babylonian god Marduk before being served. Daniel wanted to remain true to his God and pure in the practice of his faith. He did not want to defile himself with food that God had not approved.

Daniel knew this would cause trouble for him, but he had found favor and compassion with Ashkenazim, a eunuch and the head of the palace staff. So Daniel asked him if he could be exempted from eating the food and if he could have permission to eat other things instead. Ashkenazim was kind to Daniel and had sympathy for his situation.

But Ashkenazim was still very worried. “I am afraid of what my lord the king might do. He has ordered that you are to eat the food and drink the wine prepared for his table. What will happen if he sees you and your friends over time in poorer health than the other young men your own age? I am certain he will have my head.
Daniel 1:8-9

Open doors, breakthroughs and divine favors are heaven’s direct response to our decision to live for God in righteousness, and in holiness, in this sinful world.

Those who honor God, will be honored. Those who draw near to Him will find Him. Daniel chose to honor God in the face of the danger to his life and he was honored with the divine wisdom that placed him above his equals.

Keep this in mind as you go out in His presence today, that God is watching to see the decisions you will make where His glory and His honor are concerned.

The only way to enjoy His presence and blessings is to place His glory and honor first in everything you do and in everywhere you go. Worship Him in truth and in spirit; put His fear before you in everything you will do today and heaven will respond to your heart desires with speed.

Daniel, a captive in a pagan land, honored God and was granted a high position in the king’s court where he had influence and power. David, a man with sins and flaws, honored God, was chosen before his brothers, and was given an everlasting covenant of Kingship in Israel.

Let us draw near to God and He will draw near to us. It is the way to move, and remove, the mountains before us.
