       Today I visited a friend in the hospital. She has been having a very hard time with a couple of issues that have not been diagnosed as yet. Please pray for her...God knows who she is!  Thank you.

Have a great Tuesday and try to do something terrific.

God bless from
Corinne

The Devotional component in the Wednesday Writings of Women's Focus Ministries is titled, "Speaking with Words of Wisdom" and was written by Diane Sutton. She speaks of the necessity  t0 give council gained from wisdom.

Wednesday also has a writing by Elaine Haemker who is a member of the WFM monthly writing staff. Her topic is waiting (which brings character changes) and perseverance.

"Speaking with Words of Wisdom"
written by
 Diane Sutton

Last week I was informed that my advice to a friend about an issue had not been received wellby her.  After several days, she confided to me how hurt she was upon hearing my words.  My words which were meant to encourage had done the opposite.  I apologized to her and felt awful that I had caused her undo emotional pain.  As I reflected on the advice I had given, I realized the advice given was based on my human knowledge, not the spiritual wisdom.

Paul states in 1 Corinthians 2:4-5, 13-16 (NLT)

“And my message and my preaching were very plain. Rather than using clever and persuasive speeches, I relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit. I did this so you would trust not in human wisdom but in the power of God."

 "When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, we speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths….But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.”

We can only have the mind of Christ by dwelling daily in God’s Word and seeking His wisdom.  As we spend time meditating in the Word, God’s wisdom will gradually infiltrate how we think and behave.  God’s wisdom will rule our life instead of our human emotions and knowledge.  As godly wisdom settles in our mind, we will have the mind of Christ.

True wisdom comes only from God.  Scripture says if any of us lacks wisdom, we should ask God and it will be given to us (James 1:5) and that God gives wisdom and knowledge to those who please Him. (Ecclesiastes 2:26)

Lord, help us to not boast of our knowledge and wisdom but instead humbly seek your wisdom. Let us cast away every thought and idea that does not come from you. Help us to speak only in godly wisdom. Transform our mind so we have the mind of Christ. Thank you, Lord for giving us your wisdom so abundantly.

   Perseverance must finish its work
so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

Have you ever asked God, “Why do I have to wait so long?”  If so, here are four  things you need to know.

1) Waiting trains you.  Times spent waiting can be time spent learning. Oh how we long to make it happen!  We wait for babies to be born, we wait for children to return home, we wait to hear news about a loved one’s health.  Can we change any of this by toiling and worrying?  No!  Therefore, use that time to learn.  Read your Bible and use the internet to research what you have read.  You can learn  much in researching the history behind the scriptures.  When we understand the culture of the time the Scripture was written, we get a better understanding of what God’s Word is saying to us. And if you’re learning, you’re not losing. 1 Peter 3:15, But in your hearts reverence Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

2) Waiting corrects you.  The Palmist wrote;
 “Before I was afflicted I went astray,
but now I keep Your word”
(Psalm 119:67)
Pain can be profitable.  Adversity can lead to spiritual advancement if you’re willing to glean from it.  Pain forces you to look to God for answers, to lean on Him instead of others, to learn where you went astray, to hunger for His presence and His healing touch, to listen for His instructions and be sensitive to the changes He wants to bring about in your life.  As we wait, use that time to reflect on God and His desires for your life.

3) Waiting reveals those around you.  Motives are not easily discerned.  Trust God but test people.  That’s scriptural.
 “The Lord your God led you…forty years,
to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart”
(Duet 8:2)

People can keep their intentions and motives covered for a long time, but waiting generally forces the truth to the surface.

4) Waiting gives God time to solve the problem.  He’s a miracle-working God, so don’t get ahead of Him and rob Him of the opportunity to demonstrate His power in your life.  Consider it another opportunity when you face trials because it gives you another chance to prove God’s love to you.
Wait in the LORD and do good;
live in the land and uphold the truth.”
Psalm 37:3

Once you have overcome all obstacles, you will be able to stand your ground. ... And when you have done everything you could, you will be able to stand firm.

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Ephesians 6:13 NKJV
