Wednesday Writings...5/11/16

Good morning...
Today was my shopping day for the food program that I am following. For the most part it is based on paleo guidelines. There are no processed foods; everything is made from scratch. Sugar and milk are not part of the program. The fats used are healthy such as olive oil and coconut oil. I am loving it, but shopping takes a lot of time because I have to hunt for particular foods. It is more than worth the trouble. You might like to try some paleo recipes. You will be taking of your body and "His temple." That will be an amazing added benefit...eating yummy food and improving your  health

The Wednesday devotional is written by Sandy Billingham. The title is "Bask in His Peace."  Sandy lists two verses about which she writes "are very assuring for we know that the Lord does not want our hearts troubled, and secondly He truly wants to keep us in His perfect peace."

"Bask in His Peace "
written by
Sandy Billingham
Peace is a very precious commodity that we all want to experience from day to day. Unfortunately we all face many bumps in the road through-out our life time that try to steal our peace. Lack of peace can lead to many things such as ulcers and worry and lack of sleep and the list goes on and on.

Jesus says in John 14:1..
"Let not your heart be troubled,
you believe  God, believe also in Me."

And in Isaiah 26:3...
"You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You."

Those two verses are very assuring for we know that the Lord does not want our hearts troubled, and secondly He truly wants to keep us in His perfect peace.

Jesus is saying to us to fully engage in believing in God and in Jesus and to keep our minds stayed on the Lord at all times.  Those are two easy steps to remember when we begin to feel like the world is caving in on us. As we pursue those two things Jesus will grant us His perfect peace.
I encourage each of you when you are not experiencing that peace, to press in hard to Jesus for your peace. You may have to press in with great boldness and tenacity and stand firm. Continue on, press in for His peace and the Lord will be faithful to grant that peace. As the peace comes then bask in His beautiful, wonderful peace!
In His Perfect Peace,
Sandy Billingham

I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen. Not only because I see it, but because I see everything by it.

You might as well try to hear without ears or breathe without lungs, as to try to live a Christian life without the spirit of God in your heart.

Christ is a substitute for everything, but nothing is a substitute for Christ.

If God gave you roses and then you ask, "Why are there no thorns?" God would just smile and show His bleeding hands saying, "I took them away, to save you from pain."

...but some things do.  Today I am grateful for change. For years I was afraid of it. As a child I learned to fear it, for with each change came greater devastation. So throughout my life I'd choose to hang onto things that were unhealthy for me, simply because they were familiar. But then I'd always pray and ask the Lord for the desires of my heart. Little did I realize that it would require great change, on my part for Him to answer them. A whole lot of it.

First it would require trust. I would need to trust Him in order to let go of all that I'd learned. I'd learned to take care of myself. I'd learned to close off my heart from others. So it wouldn't be hurt. I'd learned that being who I was, wasn't enough. So I learned to be who others wanted me to be. I learned that I hated, and feared feeling lost or alone. So I'd do whatever it took to "belong". To anything. Or anyone. I learned that the world was a big and scarey place. I learned to keep my world "small" in order to feel safe. I learned to closely "guard" everything I loved. And everyone.
I learned to control. Out of fear. I learned perfectionism. Out of fear. I learned lying and secrecy. I learned to compartmentalize my life, out of fear that the "real" me, the " bad" me that I truly believed I was, would never be detected.

But still. I had the courage to pray. I had the courage to trust, in a God who said He loved me. Who said He would never leave me. He said He would never forsake me. Like my parents had. They had left me. Both of them. In a world that was too big for me. I hadn't learned the things I would need to get by. Or even survive. Without them. They had never prepared me and then I was alone. How could I be sure that He would not do the same.
Even so. I heard His promises and they touched me. So I opened my heart. And slowly I began to trust Him.
Little did I know that He would eventually and forever change my life. For the good. That He would take me from a place of pain. Into a place of joy. That He would turn my tears into laughter. My fear into trust. That He would bring all my separate parts. Into a whole. I am now and will forever be. Thankful. I will be. One of those. Who turned around. Came back. And thanked Him.
