Saturday Writings.....5/7/16

Good morning...
   The weekend has come. However, for us retired folk all the days are about the same. The only one that is Sunday because we go to church on Sunday. This Sunday is even more special because we will be celebrating Mother's Day. There is always a special message then as there is on Father's Day as well. If any of you reading this are not biological mothers it is my opinion that all women are mothers. By nature we nurture, it is a very motherly characteristic. So celebrate a day that lifts up women.

Carol Steficek wrote the Saturday devotional titled "God's Friends." She points out to us that we can talk to God and seek His advice as to what path we should follow. We cannot talk to Him face to face as Moses did. She advises, " Get to know God as your friend.  It is He who can give you beyond what you can possibly imagine."

"God's Friends"

"With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles..."

Numbers 12:8a

    

This passage in Scripture is God's description of how He talked to Moses, just as a friend would -- face to face.  That is quite mind-boggling if you ask me.

     The reason this happened is because Moses knew God.  He spent time with Him and learned to listen to Him.

     Do you want to know something just as amazing?  God wants to speak to you and me today.  Jesus told His disciples that they were no longer servants, He called them His "friends."

     Do you long to understand the dreams and visions you have for your life?  Do you seek direction for your life?  Do you need guidance and wisdom?  Get to know the One who can reveal what dreams and visions God has planned for your life and how everything can be fulfilled for you.

     Don't give up on your future because you don't know how to accomplish what you want.  Get to know God as your friend.  It is He who can give you beyond what you can possibly imagine.

     Jesus longs to be your intimate friend.  Through faith in Him and grounded in His Word, we may not see "face to face" as Moses did but we can truly know.  What a friend we have in Jesus.

Obama Justice Dept. To NC: Male-Only, Female-Only Bathrooms Is Sexual Discrimination

The United States Justice Department has given the state of North Carolina an ultimatum to abandon its recently passed, controversial transgender bathroom law, which allows businesses to chose their own bathroom policies, or risk legal action and possible loss of federal funding.

The new laws  that challenge the precepts upon which our country was founded as "one nation under God" are turning our country to something that is no different than many other countries who blatantly disregard the Creator of the Universe. It is a shame that the minority of the population can prevail and that the majority remains mostly silent.
