Good morning...
Here is the graphic that was put out by my church, Celebration Christian Center for the prayer meeting last night for the National Day of Prayer.
"In Remembrance" is the title of today's devotional which talks about what Jesus did for His people through His death and resurrection. His life showed us a model of how life should be lived. One bonus is that we can celebrate Him every time we receive communion. It was written by Corinne Mustafa.

We had an amazing prayer time last night. We felt that God had been in our midst as we interceded for our country and for the issues we have that would seem to indicate that we have lost many of the premises upon which our nation was founded. I am sure that many of you will not disagree that there needs to be days of prayer ongoing for our beautiful country.
Have a fantastic Friday!

.....The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread,
and when he had given thanks,
he broke it and said,
“This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
In the same way, after supper
he took the cup, saying,
“This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this,
whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup,
you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes in glory.
1 Corinthians 11:23b-26
These words were the instructions of Jesus about what His people were to believe as they received communion...what happens at that moment. Some Christians call the bread and wine the elements, while others just say His body and blood.
One group believes that when the communion is prepared by the priest Transubstantiation occurs. This is based on the belief that when Jesus instituted Communion He truly did change the bread and wine into His actual body and blood. They believe that the priest as a gift of his ordination was blessed with the power of Transubstantiation.

Other groups hang on the words that Jesus spoke when he said, "Do this in remembrance of Me." People who believe this way, think it is just a reenactment of what happened at the Last Supper, like an enactment of the thing that they have been told about what Jesus did the night before He died. They do not think that the pastor is actually creating a Transubstantiation on the bread and wine.
The important thing is to believe that Jesus died and rose again on the third day. By His death and resurrection we are made sinless and acceptable by God to spend eternity with Him in heaven.
Nowhere in Scripture do we find this teaching. We see Scriptures refer to the elements as the body and blood, but we also see Jesus clearly stating that the words He was speaking were spiritual words when talking about eating His flesh and drinking His blood: "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life,"(John 6:63). He did not say they were literal words, that is, He did not say that they were His actual body and blood.

There can be only one truth about any theory. God knows the truth. The important thing is that Jesus left us a way for His people to remember what things He has done and a way to receive Him into our hearts and mind. It is a way to celebrate the story of Jesus.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for all You have done for us through Your life and after Your Redemption so that we can be together with you forever. Your model of these things is what we follow, or try to follow as well as we can. Your whole life showed us how we should act and and think. One thing that is at the top of what we do in Your precious is to receive communion "in remembrance" (as we believe the meaning) of Your life. Praise you, Lord Jesus!
Amen.

I was reminded yesterday of prayer. What a gift
it is. Not only to the one praying. And the one being prayed for. But also to
the Lord. Who longs to spend His time. With us. Gently. Patiently. Teaching us.
How to develop strong. True. Trust filled relationships. Not only with Him. But
with those He has placed. Around us. As well.
