Saturday Writings......5/14/16

Good morning...
       Last night my husband and I went out for dinner to celebrate my birthday. The food was delicious and the restaurant had a great atmosphere. We were surprised that the total bill was under one hundred dollars. Not expected in such an elegant restaurant. It is a blessing when going out does not break the bank and is in an elegant place. That was God's blessing to me on my birthday!

Today's devotional was written by Carol Steficek. As the title suggests ("Be Warned") it contains a serious warning because of the chaos that seems to reign on the earth. She asks Christians to become spiritually serious...to get themselves ready and to tell others about the good news of salvation. The end times will be serious for those who have not accepted salvation. For the people who have accepted salvation there is a happy ending. Carol hit the nail on the head when she wrote, "Be warned -- there is a heaven, there is a hell, there is only one true God, the God of the Bible.  Be warned -- things are pointing to His return soon.  Be warned, be ready!" However for the people who have accepted salvation there is a happy ending. Jesus is coming back, and eternity will start on that day!!!

      The unrest in this world affects all of us.  daily we see the overthrow of government leaders and new regimes ruling, natural disasters wreaking havoc on the planet and disrupting or destroying peoples' lives, the threats to our ordered lives with changes in the financial market and the corruption in government, the loss of constitutional freedoms, and the moral decay of society.

     

      This should bring Christians to a feeling of a new sense of urgency regarding spiritual matters.  Only in Jesus can things be changed from disaster and destruction to restoration.  Hope for this world and mankind rests only in Him.

     Jesus has promised to come back for those who believe in Him.  Truly, God is being patient, not slow, so His church of believers can share His message of salvation to a fallen world before it is too late.Once He returns it will be too late to repent and come to Him.  Be warned -- there is a heaven, there is a hell, there is only one true God, the God of the Bible.  Be warned -- things are pointing to His return soon.  Be warned, be ready!

There are no accidents in life. Everything happens for reasons. Every person we meet will have a role in our lives, be it small or big. Some will hurt, betray make us cry to become stronger. Some will teach us lessons not to change us but for us to realize our mistakes and help us grow, and make us better person. And some would simply inspire and love us to make us happy. When these things happen we are all calling on the gifts given to us by God.

'Man? What is that, God?'

'A flawed base creature with many bad traits. he'll lie, cheat and be vain. He will revel in childish things. he'll be bigger than you and will like fighting, hunting and killing things. He won't be too smart so will need your advice to think properly. He will have a limited emotional capacity so will need to be trained. He will look silly when aroused, but since You've been complaining of boredom, I'll create him in such a way that he will satisfy your physical needs and you need never be bored again.'

'Sounds great', said Eve but what's the catch, God'

'Well, you can have him on one condition.'

'And what's that, God?'

'As I said, he'll be proud, arrogant and self-admiring, so you'll have to let him believe I made him first. And it will have to be our little secret. You know, woman to woman.'
