Good Morning...
Today I had the pleasure of going to lunch with five other neighbors. We were celebrating the 80th birthday of Lou Anne. She is a lovely person. The host of this party was a woman I have known for years. She has ALS and cannot return the hospitality that she often receives from all of us. She paid for everyone's lunch saying that she cannot have people over to her house so this was her opportunity to have something for us. It was a lovely afternoon out in the vineyards.
The devotional for Wednesday is called, "Daily Renewal with Jesus" It is about the need for daily time with the Lord and the renewal that comes from spending that time with Him.

I just was given a new devotional from a friend. It is a daily devotional about making time to spend with God on a daily basis. The author, Andrew Murray, says that there is more to being a born again Christian than just rejoicing in your promise of eternity. He says that most new Christians are not taught that in order to grow and learn they need to spend time daily in the presence of the Lord. This is something that is needed every day. Add to it sitting still to allow yourself to hear His voice. When we do that we can expect to be kept by the power of Christ throughout our day. The grace of joy and the presence of the Holy Spirit can only be daily preserved by renewal in fellowship with Jesus Christ Himself.

"Daily Renewal with Jesus"

Do not be anxious about anything, but
in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God. And the peace of God,
which transcends all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
Philippians 4:6-7
These ideas come from what I read in the devotional.
Heavenly Lord,
Help me to feel and hear You as my spirit is being renewed every day. I want to come to you daily like I would go to a doctor if I had cancer. I do have cancer in my spirit and You are the medicine for it, Jesus. Is surgery enough to excise this disease in me? Do I need Chemotherapy and Radiation to lessen the possibility of this challenge returning...the spiritual version of these treatments. I long for the cure that You have for me, Lord. Today I will be as a hospital patient as You give me the treatment I need for spiritual health. Thank you, Lord Jesus.
Amen

Some Christian Humor
Try It
A Catholic Priest and a Jewish Rabbi were good friends. At the town's annual 4th of July picnic one year, the priest teased the rabbi saying, "This baked ham is delicious. You should try it. I know you're not supposed to, but what would it hurt? You haven't lived until you've had some of Mrs. Miller's baked ham. Tell me, now, when are you going to break down and try it?"
To which the rabbi answered, "At your wedding."
We're Having Goat for Dinner?
A young couple invited their minister to dinner after church. While the couple was in the kitchen, the minister asked their son if he knew what they were going to have. "Sure," he said, "we're having goat."
"Goat!" said the minister. "Are you sure?"
"Yup," said the boy. "I heard my dad say, 'Now's as good a time as any to have the old goat for dinner.'"
We'll Be Quiet
On the way to church, a Sunday School teacher asked her class, "Now, why is it necessary to be quite in church?"
A little boy knew the answer, "Because people are asleep."
