Writing 4 Thursday...7/2/20..."The Jordan Must Be Crossed"

Good Morning,

Today we are welcoming our newest WFM Staff Writer. She is Synthia Nibasi who lives in Cameroon, Africa. Her writing is filled with wise interpretations of Scripture.

The topic for today is taken from the book of Joshua. Synthia uses the crossing if the Jordan as an analogy for the issues we face in life...issues that bring us into negativity which she calls "jordans." Synthia wrote, "The challenges are too many, but we must cross over them to enjoy full fellowship with God. We must believe that nothing is too difficult for God."

It would be a noble effort to work daily to overcome our "jordans." Will you join the effort?

May God bless you,
Synthia Nibasi

Today's Devotional
"The Jordan Must Be Crossed"
Written by Synthia Nibasi

"The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.
Joshua 3:17

Just like the children of Israel were faced with river Jordan, They eventually crossed, and so will we today. In our Christian walk with God, so many "Jordans" stretch before us. Jordan here symbolizes negativity, things that keep us from enjoying God's full blessings. What is your own "Jordan" as a Christian?

Your "Jordan" could be...
  • Alcoholism
  • Drugs
  • Depression
  • Money
  • Telling Lies
  • Idolatry...just to name a few
The challenges are too many, but we must cross over them to enjoy full fellowship with God. We must believe that nothing is too difficult for God.

To cross that "Jordan" in your life you need;...
  • Total repentance.
Indeed the Lord hands is not too short to safe, and his ears too deaf to hear, but your iniquities have build barrier's between you and your God and your sins have made him hide his face from you so that he does not listen" Isaiah 59:1,2.  Confess your sins and repent so you can cross over that Jordan holding you back.
  • To focus on and follow the movements of the Lord
So that where he leads, you will trail behind, just as the Israelites followed the covenant box.
  • Be spiritually alert,
Obeying, meditating and praying in God's word.
Conclusion...
We must focus our souls on Christ and follow Him. We must cast out all sins and set ourselves apart to Him, and we must be "willing" and "able" to move pass the "Jordans" of our lives being mindful that God loves us and care about our well being.
