Friday Writing by Karen Bennett......5/19/17

Good Morning,

The writing today was done by Karen Bennett. The title is,"At Jesus' Feet," and the theme is of how people heard and interacted with Jesus. In the end all of Jesus' interactions were equivalent to sitting at His feet. Some followed like Mary and some questioned like Thomas. Karen wrote, "As we walk through this world with Him and sit at His feet letting His words and promises saturate our hearts, minds, and souls, we know as great as that is and as much as it helps us on this journey, we can't begin to describe what lies ahead!"

A lot of wise things are given in this devotional. We need to ponder these thoughts.

God bless
Karen & Corinne

Today's Devotional
"At Jesus' Feet"

In quiet moments I've often thought of Mary sitting at the feet of Jesus as her sister Martha scrambled around endeavoring to get everything completed and perfect for their guest. Jesus said Mary had chosen the better thing when Martha complained to Him about Mary not helping her. I often think I would have chosen Jesus too. I just can't imagine not being totally entranced listening to Him, His voice blotting out all else with His love-filled teachings.

Then think of how blessed the disciples were to spend all their time with Him, to hear His His words as He spoke to crowds of people and they watched Him perform all those miracles. I can't even fathom how astonished they were observing it all. Can you just imagine being with Him in the boat when He calmed the storm or fed the five thousand? Or think of Lazarus coming forth from the tomb after having been dead for four days, following the command of Jesus to come out! And, when all was over, our salvation paid for with Christ's own blood, they saw Him alive again, resurrected from the dead.

Obviously we weren't witness to those things, but we can walk with Jesus or sit at His feet by reading and believing the Holy Scriptures. The disciples were surely blessed, but we are as well.

Remember after the resurrection of Jesus, He appeared to His disciples when Thomas was not present. The disciples all told Thomas about it, but he refused to believe unless he was able to put his finger where the nails were or his hand in Jesus' side. Jesus appeared again a week later and Thomas was there with the others. Jesus had Thomas put his finger where the nails were and his hand in His side. Thomas then believed! He had seen it with his own eyes and there was no longer any room for doubt. Jesus told him,

"Because you have seen me, you have believed;
blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."
John 20:29
20:29.
That is us! We have not seen, yet we believe. This faith has been placed in our hearts by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are most definitely blessed to know our Lord and Savior and to share Him with others.

Our lives are enriched by reading and knowing His Word! We are comforted by knowing His tremendous love for us and filled with hope because of His promises. Incomparable joy is ours knowing eternity in Paradise with Christ awaits all believers.

"No eye has seen, no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived what God has prepared
for those who love Him."
1 Corinthians 2:9

As we walk through this world with Him and sit at His feet letting His words and promises saturate our hearts, minds, and souls, we know as great as that is and as much as it helps us on this journey, we can't begin to describe what lies ahead! We need to give ourselves to our great Redeemer that He may guide our way and surprise us at the end of this life with the beauty and the bliss He has prepared for us in the next life - our eternal life where He is the light and He will wipe away every
tear. He will tenderly and lovingly
welcome each and every one of us.

Dear Jesus,
thank you for filling my heart
with such hope, joy, and love!
Amen!
