Proper Focus
Hezekiah is known as one of the best kings who ever sat on the throne of Judah. Because of his obedience, God prospered Hezekiah in everything. This included minor political victories and economic prosperity to finance the building operations and expensive military preparations for war with Assyria. Hezekiah prayed about personal difficulties as well as military dangers.
His simple faith in the Lord was the source and the secret of his strength. Yet Hezekiah was not perfect. He eventually lost favor with God because of his pride. Despite all of his blessings, vanity and self-sufficiency led the king astray when he became obsessed with material possessions.
But I trust in you, O Lord; I say, “You are my God.”
Psalm 31:14

God’s Word never says to fully trust in people. Even kings can be unfaithful and consumed with self. Scripture tells us to let our trust be in God. The Lord never lies, slanders or ridicules us. Faithfulness and loyalty are a part of His very character.
As you prepare for Election Day tomorrow, remember that no human can save America. Let your trust be in God. Pray and use His Word to guide you as you cast your vote. Intercede also for all Christian Americans to do the same.
Now, through tomorrow night, please earnestly pray.
