Women's Focus Ministries

We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,
Corinne Mustafa.......and the Writing Staff of "WFM"

One of our writers is writing a novel, called AFTER THE EVENT, that is published Saturdays separately from the daily posts. There is a link on the left side that will take you to the blog of the novel which is being posted in installments.

Monday Writing by Kelly Dobyns....11/7/16

Good Morning,

Kelly Dobyns  is the author of today's Devotional that is named "The Comfort of Him." Most of us know the Twenty-Third Psalm. I learned it from my great grandmother when I was three. In this short psalm we hear how the Lord protects us like a shepherd resulting in a knowledge that He is always there. We have nothing to fear. Kelly pointed out that she often is depressed and that this psalm is comforting to her. Kelly wrote, "So, that is what I am keeping in my heart.  The Lord isn’t leaving me during my sadness. He is walking right with me, and maybe part of what I need to do is share about how He IS always with me, perhaps just to encourage one person."

Have God's blessings on this Monday.

God bless,
Corinne & Kelly

Today's Devotional
The Comfort of Him

A psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
      He refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths
    for his name’s sake.
 Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil,
    for you are with me;
Your rod and Your staff,
    they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
Surely Your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

            Psalm 23

This psalm is so comforting to me.  It reminds me of being a safe and secure child, as I memorized it when a child.  Right now it is serving as a bit of a security blanket going through my current season.  I think being a Christian and suffering from depression can be even harder, because I feel like I just shouldn’t be sad so much.  I know what the Lord has done for me, and I am always in His arms. However, it doesn’t always keep me uplifted, especially when my life at 55 is nothing at all like you had imagined it would be.  Without going into a lot of gory details, I just want to share that I am moving forward and keeping hold of the facts that I know are true.  There are always going to be storms we must walk through, as well as, there are always going to be glorious times of joy.

So, that is what I am keeping in my heart.  The Lord isn’t leaving me during my sadness. He is walking right with me, and maybe part of what I need to do is share about how He IS always with me, perhaps just to encourage one person.   Even in the darkest of storms I am always safe, and the joy will come in the morning.  We won’t always know when that morning will be, but we can stand on His promises that love and light will always be there again.

Thank you Lord for getting me through the days
when I know I would not have come out the other side
without you holding my hand.  I praise you and love you gratefully.
Amen
