Good morning,
"WHAT IS YOUR GOAL?" is the Saturday devotional written by Carol Steficek. Carol had a teacher who asked her class what their goals for the future were. The kids said ordinary things but one boy said he wanted to be a lawyer so he could make lots of money, From this experience Carol realized that this should not be a main goal for anyone. Rather they should order their lives with a desire to help other people. She praised the fact that Jesus came to earth and became a servant. Carol wrote, "We are to follow the example of Jesus and do the best we can for others in whatever we do. Don't ask to be served but rather serve. Make your goal the same as that of Jesus."
Have a great Saturday!
God bless

WHAT'S YOUR GOAL?
"For even the Son
of Man did not come to be served,
but to serve, and to give his life as a
ransom for many."
Mark 10:45
I can still remember that in one high school class one of the teachers had us
all share what we wanted to become and what our goal in life was. We
heard all the usual things, except for one young man. He actually said he
wanted to be a lawyer in order to make a lot of money. This was not very
noble sounding.
So what's your goal in life? Have you accomplished what you wanted?
How do you evaluate your goals?
I wonder how many of us have ever thought of our lives in terms of serving
other? No matter what we "do" in life as a profession or job,
our focus should not be on ourselves. Life is not supposed to be a
"what can I get out of it for myself" proposition. Even Jesus,
the King of Heaven, came to be a servant and give His life for each of us.
Next time you head out
the door for work, volunteer service, a church activity, or whatever you do,
start looking at what you can do for your neighbor you meet on the
street. We are to follow the example of Jesus and do the best we can for
others in whatever we do. Don't ask to be served but rather serve.
Make your goal the same as that of Jesus.
