Friday Devotional.....8/19/16

Good Morning.....

Thursday was a good day...in fact they all are in Maine. First Storm had to teach a new employee how to make orders...that gave me some time in the Word. Then we went out to eat with said employee.

Our plan was to visit the gravesite of an unknown baby. I know he is not there but I like to pay my respects to the little guy who would be 76 had he lived. This is the marker for him. I used this picture so that you could see the words on the stone. At the bottom of the stone over the years people have placed little toys, and someone has planted a Christmas tree to the right of the marker. Ir is really heartbreaking, and no one ever found out who he was or what happened to him. I have named him "Billy." To see this really breaks your heart, but the good news is that God knows him and is loving him in heaven. Maybe in heaven someday I will meet him and be able to tell him how loved he is by many on earth.

Last night Storm made milkshakes for everyone...six of us including two grandsons. Then we watched the NE Patriots exhibition foot ball against the Bears. We were happy that NE won this game even if it only was by 1 point.

Have a great Friday!
God bless
Corinne

The Friday devotional was written by Sandy Billingham. The title is,  "We Need Each Other."
The idea is that isolation from others is sometimes discomforting. As a group it is good to have fellowship with like minded people. Sandy wrote, "We most definitely need Christ to be utmost first in our life depending  on Him fully.  But we cannot grow and thrive without our brothers and sisters in Christ..... I would remind you to count the many ways that we truly need  each  other to stay strong in the Lord!"

   "We Need Each Other"

My husband  and I recently went on a special trip to Colorado and stayed with friends. The wife, Nancy was telling us how she, during a season in her life, was a pilot. Nancy went through all the protocol in getting her license and proceeded to share her adventures. As she was flying solo  and could  see all the activity going on below in her hometown,  she began to experience great isolation. As she would fly above the city, she did not like the feeling of being so high up knowing all the people down below were experiencing every day life. She made up her mind right then and there that she was done flying. She marked flying off  of her bucket list and went on with life amongst the busy pace of her city.

Isn't that how it is amongst our Christian walk? We most definitely need Christ to be utmost first in our life depending  on Him fully.  But we cannot grow and thrive without our brothers and sisters in Christ. There may be times in  our  walk we have tried to do it  solo, only to discover things were not  working out so great. We may have experienced that  "isolation feeling" realizing we didn't like it at all. The bottom line is that we need the Body of Christ.
God's Word  tells us...

"And let us
consider one another in order to stir up love and good  works,
not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,
as in the manner of some, but exhorting  one another,
and so much the more as you see the day approaching."
Hebrews 10:24-25

We must encourage one  another and pray for one another regularly. When we see a brother or sister in great need, we  can be  there to help them. We  can speak God's Word into each other's  life. We  can  spur others on to do the work of the Lord. There is a multitude  of ways of the importance of the Body of Christ spending time with one another.

So, the next time you might feel like isolating yourself from God's people, I would remind you to count the many ways that we truly need  each  other to stay strong in the Lord!  You  can mark isolation totally off your list and continue strong meeting with your  brothers and sisters  in the Lord!
In His Great  Love,
Sandy Billingham
