The Devotional component in the Wednesday Writings of Women's Focus Ministries is titled,"Receiving The Promise" and was written by Sandy Billingham. She gives a good explanation of what is involved in living a life with endurance which will result in 'receiving the promise'. Sandy wrote, "As we do all that we can have great assurance that His promises are ours. His promises for us are always Yes and Amen! Endure to the end my friend and watch all of God's promises unfold before you!!"

The Lord will provide the confidence we need, knowing there is a wonderful reward waiting for us. In the meantime we must keep our eyes on Jesus, walking in obedience with Him according to His Word. When the storms come, we will be constant, bearing up and holding out and be ever so steadfast in the Lord Jesus Christ. When the weariness and defeat come knocking at our door we will actively resist it and press in harder.
The shooting occurred during a Black Lives Matter protest which was in turn a response to the police shootings of two African-Americans earlier in the week.

"Receiving The Promise"

We all have need of endurance for we all go through different situations which require it. But we also know that endurance can be a pretty tough thing in the midst of that heavy trial.
The definition for endurance in the footnote of my Bible says as follows; Constancy, continuance, bearing up, holding out. It is the capacity to bear up under difficult circumstances, not with a passive complacency, but with a hopeful fortitude that actively resists weariness and defeat.
I totally embrace that definition of endurance for that is truly what it takes to make it through the long haul!
Let's take a look at God's Word and what He says about endurance and how that all plays out if we don't give up.
In Hebrews 10:35-36 it says...
"Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.
For you have need of endurance, so that after you
have done the will of God, you may receive the promise."
As we do all that we can have great assurance that His promises are ours. His promises for us are always Yes and Amen!
Endure to the end my friend and watch all of God's promises unfold before you!!
Enduring to the End!

When you think you are
only supposed to "pour, pour, pour" in life that's all you do. That
can leave you exhausted and not always fruitful. Once you understand the true
value of what is being "poured out" however, you become much more
focused on where and into whom you are pouring.

In Christian News Headlines
The city of Dallas is still grappling with the tragedy
that shocked the city last week when a gunman killed five police officers
and wounded seven others.
The shooting occurred during a Black Lives Matter protest which was in turn a response to the police shootings of two African-Americans earlier in the week.
Dallas Police Chief David Brown is in charge of the investigation into the shooting that killed the five officers.
Brown has given many interviews and press conferences in the few days since the Dallas shooting, and many articles have been written about him, but GetReligion.com notes that most of the media coverage of Brown tends to ignore how integral his faith is to his life.
However, one article published by the Dallas Morning News does address Brown’s faith:
“Faith, family and his love for his hometown are what drive Brown, say those close to him. He stresses the importance of family time. He's married to former police Sgt. Cedonia Brown, and they have a 10-year-old daughter,” states the article.
The article goes on to say that Brown attends Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship where the Rev. Tony Evans is pastor. Evans said that “Brown believes in bedrock Christian doctrine – faithful submission to God's plan followed by an eternal reward. He sees his job as a ‘divine assignment’ and brings a Biblical perspective to all his decision-making.”
Brown, an African-American man whose own son killed a police officer and whose brother was shot and killed by drug dealers, has personal experience with law enforcement apart from being an officer himself.
“Brown sees himself as a representative of good fighting evil," says Evans. “That's what keeps him grounded during tragedies and crises.”
Please pray for cities everywhere in this country
as they face these kinds of situations.
