Thursday Writings......7/14/16

Good morning...

Last night we got together for out third monthly WFM  "Prayer and Praise" night. It was hot so we had our baked potato bar inside. Then we moved into the beautiful evening to Praise God and Pray for each other and for needs we are surrounded by. It was lovely and we continued until 9:30. We all felt blessed.

Hope your Thursday is a good one.

God bless from
Corinne

The Devotional component in the Thursday Writings of Women's Focus Ministries is titled, "Christianity Spreads...Then & Forever" and was co-written by Brother Thomas Ukwate and Jody Ward. The theme of this devotional is the early spread of Christianity and the power of Jesus we have that continues today. Here is a quote from this writing, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today & forever. What He did on the streets of Jerusalem 2000 years ago He is able to do today."

The apostles were performing many startling signs and miraculous wonders among the people. At the hands of these special messengers, numerous attesting miracles were continually taking place. It was an amazing time when through the work of the apostles, many God-signs were obvious and countless wonderful things were done.

And all the believers gathered as a unified group in the covered porch of the Temple area known as Solomon’s Colonnade. The people of the city, the unbelievers, were speaking highly of them, but none of them dared to associate with them. They had high regard and respect for the believers, and even admired the, though most would not risk publicly affiliating with them.

Nevertheless, more and more people, both men and women, believed in the Lord. Those who acknowledged Jesus as their Savior and devoted themselves to Him were added to the group of believers and gathered with them. Crowds of people were constantly increasing their assembly in record numbers.

As a result of the apostles’ work, the church’s renown was so great that the people brought their sick out into the streets, carrying them on cots, mats and sleeping pads. They did this, hoping that when Peter walked by, at least his shadow would fall on some of them and they would have a touch of healing power.

And the people from the towns and villages all around Jerusalem were coming together, throngs of them, carrying the sick and bringing those harassed and tormented by evil spirits, and they were all being healed.
Acts 5.12-16

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today & forever. What He did on the streets of Jerusalem 2000 years ago He is able to do today.

Trust in Him. Ask in faith and step out to do what your situation would not allow you act on before. Then, leave the rest for Him to complete.

I believe a miracle is taking place in your body now check it. I believe a breakthrough is being born in your challenge.  I believe your victory is being realized on earth, as it is in heaven.

Lord, release the surge of your power now in Jesus name, amen.

Share your testimonies to encourage others and glorify God.

Humorous  Innocence From the Mouths of Babes

My son said after the offering one sunday: "God must be poor to be always needing our money!"
My children began reciting the Lord's Prayer at 2 1/2 years old and I  remember my daughter very seriously praying, "Our father, whose art's in Heaven,  Howard is His name..."
It was a Sunday night after church. The preacher had preached on having fire down in my bones. My mom was in a bad mood and cooking dinner for dad. I was in the kitchen when my mom burnt her hand on the pan. When she burnt herself, I said without hesitation, "Got FIRE down in your BONES?"  My mom looked at me and burst out laughing.
I questioned my 4-year-old daughter on how a person gets saved. She answered that we will be saved by going to our church every Sunday and Wednesday.
When I told her that going to our church wouldn't save us, she responded: "Well then, we better find another church to go to!

My Son was about 4 yrs. old and when we would travel on long trips I would tell him to lay down and go to sleep, that way the long trip would be over with quicker. One Sunday morning as he laid in the church pew going to sleep, I punched him and told him he needed to try to stay awake.  He said to me, "Mom, I'm trying to get this over with quicker!"  ...my son, Jeremy

   Quotes of Famous Christians

   Past and Present

Here is a surprise!

The following quote is not Nelson Mandela's and he's never used it. It's commonly believed that Mandela used these words in his 1994 inauguration speech. He didn't. It comes from the book A Return To Love, 1992, by Marianne Williamson.
" 'Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.' We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we subconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we're liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
Marianne Williamson, author, from A Return To Love, 1992. Ack C Wilson and J Cooke.
This is still a wonderful and powerful quote!
