Tuesday Writings......7/26/16

Good morning...

Today I spent time with my special friend Kathy. We went to a nursery, then we went to Carmax which is a new dealership in our area. We just went to check it out. Then we went to a Japanese Restaurant for lunch...yummy. Then we parted company for the rest of the afternoon. I have been thinking today of what a blessing friendship is. I wrote about two of my friends I have had since the 49's. That dates me for sure...;lol.
Have a great Tuesday!

God bless from
Corinne

The Devotional component in the Tuesday Writings of Women's Focus Ministries is titled, ""The Clock is Ticking!" and was written by Annie Allen. The theme is that we only have a limited time on earth, and we should always do our best in everything we do. When we pray and God fulfills what we ask for we must not forget to thank Him. Annie wrote, "Nevertheless, true thanksgiving—an expression of sincere gratitude for what we have been given undeserved—needs to be a part of every prayer. ."

"The Clock is Ticking!

Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might,
for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is
neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV)

Solomon is teaching us that now is the time to work with care, energy, and purpose to get the most and the best from life and to prepare for the hereafter. His basic reason is that the clock is ticking. Time is running out.

We let our requests for what we think we need from God be made known to Him with ease. In other words, they are at the forefront of our minds, and it is very likely that before we actually get down on our knees—or however or wherever we pray—we have been thinking about what we are going to request of God for a long time. We have many reasons to give to God why we want or need what we are asking Him for.

Thanksgiving in prayer requires prior preparation too. It is not something most of us tend to work at with all of our might. This is because of the human proclivity to merely accept things—especially things that we might consider as blessings—as due us. In other words, in some cases we go to God with the thought that we deserve it. This attitude is there, and this is what makes so many of our prayers nothing more than "the gimmes." Other vital elements that are needed to make an effective prayer before God are often overlooked, forgotten, and neglected, and sometimes never used, or maybe they are just brushed over in the rush to get to whatever we want to ask Him for. Nevertheless, true thanksgiving—an expression of sincere gratitude for what we have been given undeserved—needs to be a part of every prayer.

   Friendships

God's blessing are many and beautiful. His plan from the beginning of time was to make a way to fellowship with His creation and to provide a way  for us to live with Him for eternity.

God has also provided a different kind of fellowship to enjoy on earth. Throughout life God has provided us people and friendships. This is an amazing gift that enlightens our days and our times. Making memories with friends is one of the best ways to spend time. It's a lifetime moment that will surely treasure when a old age comes.

This is a picture of two of my oldest friends, This was taken on Class Day the Friday before we graduated. For Class Day the girls in my school always wore long dresses and carried a bouquet. Things were different in 1961. I attended a girls academy, and I was with most of my class from pre primary until Senior Year.  We have so many memories we shared as we grew from five year olds to young women. that was what God had in mind for us and the friends He brought into our lives.

The girl on the right, Judy, joined my circle of friends in 1948. I held her first baby when she was about three weeks old. Her father owned a flower shop and a nursery. The baby held her little head back and looked at my blouse which had flowers on it. She stared and stared and then she started to goo and make noise. I have always believed that she knew there were flowers because she saw them in the florist shop a lot when she was there.

The girl in the middle is my friend, Carol. I met her in 1946 when I moved into our dad's family home when we came to live there. We were both about three which means that we have known each other for about seventy years. Not many people have friendships to treasure for that long. God blessed me with Carol in my life.

I spoke with her on the phone today. That reminded me of how we would talk on the phone when we were three and four. In those days we had operators. When I wanted to talk to her I would say I want to talk with Carol. She would answer the question of, "Number please." with the request to talk to Corinne. As we became big girls of five and started school, we were proud to learn the actual phone numbers. I would call my friend with the number "66," and she called me at my number, 229," Our school was about ten miles away from where we lived we shared our first carpool with my mommy and her mommy taking turns.

I think all of us would say we thanked God for each other.

Dear friends,
let us love one another, for love comes from God.
Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

In the beginning, God created the earth and rested.
Then God created Man and rested.
 Then God created Woman.
Since then, neither God nor Man has rested.
