Thursday Writings......7/28/16

Good morning...

Today we had some fun. We have some friends that treat each other to lunch a few times a year. It was our turn to do it this time. We went to a restaurant in town named Sansar, that has a great buffet at lunchtime. The decor is Indian and simple. You could not call it an elegant place, but the food is wonderful.

Hope your Thursday is a good one.

God bless from
Corinne

The Devotional component in the Thursday Writings of Women's Focus Ministries is titled, "Think of the Wonder" and was written by Brother Thomas Ukwute. The theme of this devotional found Psalm 103:2-5 and speaks of how the Lord protects everyone with His great love. Brother Thomas wrote, "When you feel you are alone, that is when He is nearest, for He said, I will not leave you nor forsake you. What a wonderful God we serve! "

"Think of the Wonder"

Brother Thomas Ukwute

 Bless the LORD, O my soul & forget not all his benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities; who heals all your diseases; Who redeemed your life from destruction;
who crowned you with loving kindness and tender mercies;
Who satisfies your mouth with good things;
so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

Psalms 103:2-5

Just reflecting on the things God had done for you and your family that no other person would have been able to do for you will stir your heart into praise and thanksgiving. You cannot learn to truly praise God unless you know that it takes positive and  negative to produce light.

Sometimes things may not have gone the way you planned it. In your journey of faith you will get disappointments, meet stuff that you never thought will ever happen, betrayed by people you trusted with your life. When these things happens we get angry, complain & get frustrated. But if God will open your eyes to see what that glitch in your journey had saved you from, you will dance in praise all the days of your life.

Remember He said, my ways are not your ways. Learn to thank God in good times & in "bad" times, for He says "in all things give Him thanks". I don't understand it; I can't explain why. Still I understand that His wisdom is deeper than what any human being could ever imagine. My simple conclusion of the reason to trust Him with your praise in good times or bad times is because He had given His Angels charge concerning you and to keep you lest you dash your foot against a stone.

When you feel you are alone, that is when He is nearest, for He said, I will not leave you nor forsake you. What a wonderful God we serve! Heaven & earth adore Him. Angels bow before Him. The wind & sea clap their hands before Him. At the breath of His nostrils it thunders. His strength is enough for you. Rest in Him for the storm will be over soon. Have a joyful Thursday. Please share this with your friends if it blessed you.

   Thoughts from Corinne

Yesterday I told you about the accident that I had last Thursday.
Today I will share what I learned during this very difficult week.

  • No one would ever say that the accident was a blessing. Karen and I were blown away that day . I believe that she is still as hampered by the memory of that day and the things it has necessitated. I learned anew that having an accident will always be a total pain. However, that was just minor learning tidbits. The big thing that I learned was that God can take anything and use it for His kingdom. I told you about how we all discovered in the course of dealing with a horror that we were all Christians. It was just a part of getting to know each other. Karen told me that she wished she could find a group to be a part of. I told her about WFM and she was interested. So I will be inviting her to receive these writings, and to come to our monthly Praise and Prayer meeting.
  • I have been doing a lot of thinking about my life. I am always doing something or a couple of somethings. On the day of the accident I left late and had to do with a low tire. I was going to be at least fifteen minutes late. I was not on the phone nor was I speeding. The street had three lanes and I was in the one for turning left. The light turned green and I did not notice that the turning arrow was still red. I was distracted and the turn would have brought me to the driveway into the restaurant. I will be more aware of what I am doing by learning to slow down.
  • I am going to apply this to the rest of my life...being more responsible about things that need to be done...just jump in and get things done.
  • God uses everything that happens for teaching us and loving us. As Brother Thomas says in his devotional, "What a wonderful God we serve! Heaven & earth adore Him. Angels bow before Him." True that!
  • Thank you Lord for making a horrible situation lead me to new understandings on how You work with us and love us no matter what. Amen.

    Prayer Petitions
   Written by Lisabeth Lipp

    Prayer is based on Psalm 27

Lord,
Thank You that You are our light and our salvation. Thank You that You are the stronghold of our life...we can depend on You. Thank You that we can be confident in You even when we are faced by enemies and attacked. Thank You that we will be safe in your dwelling, maybe not the dwellings or churches made by man, but Your heavenly home, the place we belong and will one day go.

We hear and see all sorts of evil on this earth, but this earth is not where we belong. While You shield us from much here on earth, how You bless our children. In heaven there will be no more sorrow or crying or sickness or pain. Thank You that You hear our voice when we call to You.

Let us continually seek Your face. Let those who do not yet know You or those who wandered from Your presence, seek You and find You as well. Many of us are praying for loved ones who do not know You or are following the prodigal path. Give them a heart to know You. Lord, remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh, a heart softened with the oil of Your love.

Lord, even when we have disobeyed and let You down, do not hide Your face from us or turn us away in anger. Do not reject us or forsake us. Our earthly parents may turn away and forsake us but You Lord will receive us. Teach us Your way, and when we have turned away from the path that You have for us, gently lead us back in the way You would have us go.

Protect us from false accusers and from those who are against us. Open our eyes to see Your goodness this side of heaven, help strengthen our confidence in You. Give us signs of Your goodness so that we can share with those who doubt. And Lord, help us to wait for You especially when it seems like nothing is happening. When it seems like our prayers are falling on deaf ears. Help us to be strong, to take heart, and wait for You...for Your answer is always best.

In Jesus name, amen
