Saturday Writings.....6/25/16

Good morning...

This morning I woke up to a surprise. My friend Mary Wilkins, was on her way to the hospital for  kidney transplant. I had no idea that it was scheduled. Mary writes the Monday devotional. Please include her and her family in your prayers. Mary is good and amazing woman.

I just got an email that Mary is doing well...please keep praying.

Hope your Saturday is a good one.

God bless from
Corinne

The Devotional component in the Saturday Writings of Women's Focus Ministries is titled, "WILL OF GOD " and was written by Carol Steficek. at one point in this devotional Carol's writing accuses or at least thinks that some people think of God as a the ultimate bell boy whose duty is to answer their prayers. Carol wrote, "The purpose of prayer is to change us.  we need to adjust ourselves to God's will, not our own.  God's will is perfect and He wants to give each of us, as His children, only the best.  He alone knows that -- we don't."

  Today's Devotional

"WILL OF GOD "
written by
Carol Steficek

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God:
that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
And if we know that He hears us -- whatever we ask
-- we know that we have what we asked of Him."
I Jn. 5:14, 15

This Bible passage is used when talking about the importance of praying, because God does answer prayers.

However, one of the first comments is generally: "God didn't answer my prayer like I asked Him to."  That's because some people look upon God as the ultimate bell-boy.  He is there at our beck-and-call to do whatever we want Him to.

The purpose of prayer is to change us.  we need to adjust ourselves to God's will, not our own.  God's will is perfect and He wants to give each of us, as His children, only the best.  He alone knows that -- we don't.

The more we get to know God daily through His word and the more we pray, the more we will become in tune with God's will for our lives.  Since His will is always best, this is also what we should seek and want -- His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

God does hear, He does answer prayers, and we will always receive the very best according to His will.

   Let's Pray

Prayer of complete surrender to God

O God,

I lay my life at your feet,
And offer you all that I am.

May my feet follow your leading.
May my mind be renewed with your truth.
May my heart be full of your grace.
May my words be full of your wisdom.
May my mind be full of your truth.
May my dreams be full of your vision,
And my soul fill of your peace.

I lay my life at your feet
And offer you all that I am.

Amen

.Prayer for favor (a prayer for God's blessing on an event or situation)
Father,

Please cover this situation with your loving hand.
Bring your peace, healing and hope.
Hold us close and keep our hearts and minds safe.
We ask that the power of your truth
would turn things around and bring your light and love.

We choose to rest in your Almighty hand,
knowing that you are our fortress in times of struggle.

Thank you that you will protect us from all harm.

Amen.

   Wisdom From a Friend
Krissy Rasmusson is the sister of the Children's pastor at my church. She also was a classmate of my daughter Aleisha. I saw this writing that Krissy posted on Facebook and "borrowed" it.

"But God meant it for good."

Those familiar words from Genesis...remind me that in each victory and each set-back in life, God has a greater goal than my comfort in mind. It’s actually through those vulnerable times when I don’t have it all together {which, let’s face it, is all the time} that I’ve come to understand more of who He is.

The God who forms in the womb, who sees my every thought and need, who loves me in spite of myself – He understands and has compassion for me in my weakness. He willingly walked a road that no perfect man deserved and sympathizes with my suffering – no matter how big, or how seemingly insignificant. And praise God that He loves me too much to leave me immature and lacking."-

Love God Greatly

   Today's Inspiring Graphic

This was my favorite doll, called Little Bear. In June of 2011 He "died" in a fall from a high place...the shelf on which he was standing. Some dry walling was being done, and I guess he leaned out too far to watch the worker. His porcelain head smashed into hundreds of pieces. I left him up on the shelf for a while with all the broken pieces of his poor little head and his crown of hair (still in one piece) in a small basket. I tried to locate his maker to no avail. I finally took him down, and he has been living in a file drawer in my office. I never gave up on my little darling.

You know that what God does for us. We get broken in many pieces due to our mistakes, choices, and things that have been done to us. God never gives up on us, and He waits for the moment when He can help us become whole again. He slowly moves in our lives, and we improve from His loving care.

Little Bear never knew that there was a future for him. Jan Andersen (the WFM Sunday Devotional writer) found an almost identical doll on eBay. That happened because I accidentally called him Gentle Bear, and that it the name of the bear she found.  Gentle Bear will be at my house on July 2. I went to great expense to acquire this little Gentle Bear. You won't believe my cost...$40

Just think of what price God was God was willing to pay for us. He sent His son to live as a man on earth and give His life for salvation for those who accepted His son.
