Good Morning,
Throughout our lives we have been blessed by someone telling us, "Well done!" It can be our parents or perhaps someone else involved with caring for us...grandparent, teacher, or a day care provider as well as others. However, I think you will agree that the most wonderful "well done" comment we will ever receive is the one we will hear from Jesus when He welcomes us to come into our "forever home." When I ponder the handouts and treasures we receive from God I can only minimally wrap my mind around it. We live in a world of paying for our mistakes and if you make enough blunders there is no hope. However we serve a Creator of us, and I might add Creator of the universe. He is the be all and the end all. A person could be the manager of an public laundry (not a bad thing), but she (or he) will throw her managerial weight around making the employees feel like worthless underlings. If any one would be justified in this behavior due to a position of divine creator of everything it would be God., but He never throws his weight around. He loves us warts and all and gives us all we need to succeed on the earthly journey towards heaven. Here is a quote from this writing, "What this means is that you do not have to, nor will you ever be able to earn grace! It is given as a gift, The good acts we engage in are a show of how much we love Him."
Praise and love to our Father God!

"Well Done"

“His master replied,
‘Well done, good and faithful servant!
You have been faithful with a few things;
‘Well done, good and faithful servant!
You have been faithful with a few things;
I will put you in charge of many things.
Come and share your master’s happiness!’"
Come and share your master’s happiness!’"
Matthew 25:21
We are told that at the moment of death, if we have accepted Jesus as Lord, we will be greeted by Jesus with the welcome of "well done good and gentle servant...come in an share your master's happiness." Can you imagine the joy you will have?
Still we must remember that all the good things we do will not affect our salvation. The Bible tells us...
For it is by God's grace that you have been saved through faith.
It is not the result of your own efforts,
but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it.
but God's gift, so that no one can boast about it.
Ephesians 2:8-9
What this means is that you do not have to nor will you ever be able to earn grace! It is given as a gift.
The good acts we engage in are a show of how much we love Him. Here are a few samples of "good acts"
- reading the bible every day
- reaching out to share the "good news" to people who have not heard
- praying for others who are enduring difficulties or facing losses or who are disabled
- also personally coming alongside of those who are enduring difficulties or facing losses
- helping others who do not have enough to eat by sharing food, etc.
- teaching Bible study classes to bring enlightenment to God's word
- leading groups who want to join together to praise the Lord and to pray to Him
- I am sure that you can personally think of other "good works"
In the end God tells us
about love when He says
love the Lord thy God
with your heart and soul
and love your neighbor
and love your neighbor
as yourself.
Please join me and other readers of this devotional
who will choose to pick a "good act" to do on a daily basis.
