We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,
Corinne Mustafa.......and the Writing Staff of "WFM"

One of our writers is writing a novel, called AFTER THE EVENT, that is published Saturdays separately from the daily posts. There is a link on the left side that will take you to the blog of the novel which is being posted in installments.

Sunday Writing... 5-17-20... "AM I ENOUGH?"

Good morning!

Have you ever wondered if you are enough - smart enough, pretty enough, able enough, good enough for the satisfaction of others?  Are you full of self-doubt, guilt, insecurities?  See what God has to say about whether you are enough in today's writing, "AM I ENOUGH?"

May you be blessed,
Jan

Today's Devotional:

"AM I ENOUGH?"

by
Jan Andersen

Many of us go around wondering if we will ever be enough…. "will I do well enough at school to pass or in my family to take care of others well enough; will I be able to do enough for merits on the job or approval at church; will I ever look good enough to be acceptable like people I see on T.V. or in the magazines; will I ever be able to be good enough to make up for all the mistakes I’ve made in the past - why did I ever do those things?!"

God tells us we are enough - not that we are perfect, but that Jesus was perfect for us in our place so that we can rest in his grace and merciful forgiveness.  He loves us with an everlasting love - no matter what!  As long as we remain faithful we remain enough, because He is enough for us.  We do not need to strive for other people’s acceptance, live up to unrealistic expectations, or attempt to be perfect for anyone.  We do our best with what we have, and we always have God's love and protection.  We are enough when we are following Jesus Christ.  When we falter, fall or fail, Christ’s perfect power rests on us.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10  But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

When life is like walking in dry barren land with dead vegetation and bare dirt, it can be distressing.  It can be equally dreadful climbing snow-covered rocky inclines.  But put that dry landscape with a mighty snowcapped mountain in the background as it is in the attached illustration of the Bible verses above, and you can see how the contrast makes a beautiful picture.  The power of the mountain is more impressive with the contrasting foreground.  That is similar to how God’s power is made perfect in our weakness.  We are enough even with our weaknesses when we remain in Him.

Dear Father in heaven, help me to see that I am enough when I remain in You.  Thank you for your free forgiveness by grace through faith in Jesus, my redeemer.  May I always remember that you will provide what I need at all times and will forever love me.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

  1. What a terrific post. Thank you for presenting this. It seems in today's world people, especially those without God in their lives, struggle with I am not good enough, I am not smart enough, I am not rich enough. Well, it just is not true just as you have so aptly stated, that God's creation is enough -- it is enough because He made each of us uniquely different. I am thankful for His divine guidance and love. I appreciate so much your article.

  2. It is unfortunate that in spite of who we are to God we question and torment ourselves. We do this because we are painfully aware of our own "underbelly"...where we see our sin and the mistakes made. Satan does not manufacture the stories that we know. He just whispers reminders of our past shortcomings. We need to tell him to "take a hike" and then carry on with what God tells us about who we are to Him.

You have hit your chosen nail on the head with this devotional, Jan. Thank you!

    Love and God bless,
    Corinne Mustafa
