Women's Focus Ministries

We are a group of Christian women (and one man) who write daily devotionals and other articles of interest to women.
We publish daily. Praying that you will enjoy this ministry.

Thank you and God bless,
Corinne Mustafa.......and the Writing Staff of "WFM"

One of our writers is writing a novel, called AFTER THE EVENT, that is published Saturdays separately from the daily posts. There is a link on the left side that will take you to the blog of the novel which is being posted in installments.

Good Morning,

I am praying that you all had a joyful and uplifting Christmas Day today. We woke up to spend the morning with our son and family who spend the night here. It was a blessing to be together. Then we headed off to Sacramento to spend the afternoon and early evening with my son's in-laws. WE had a yummy meal with steaks cooked on the barbecue to die for. After dinner we played a rip roaring White Elephant gift exchange...lots of laughter and a bit of friendly shouting. Then we had dessert.

I was thinking that it was a bit secular, and where was Jesus (you remember, "The Reason for the Season")? Then the thought came to my mind that He WAS there. He had been there throughout the time. We had had get togethers that were centered on our Savior, and the the so called secular activities were an other opportunity to celebrate with food, laughter, fun and fellowship. Yes, He was there enjoying the fun with us.

I have to confess that I did not get a chance to do a devotional ahead of time. I am using an archived devotional written by Mary Wilkins. As I was typing this I realized that she had used a quote and a song by John Lennon and that rates to be on the secular side. Still it speaks the way some things are that actually include Godly thoughts. Here is Mary's writing...
We've got this gift of love, but love is like a precious plant. You can't just accept it and leave it in the cupboard or just think it's going to get on by itself. You've got to keep watering it. You've got to really look after it and nurture it.”

― John Lennon
Mary further wrote...Reading the above quote on Christmas day, I realized that John Lennon was not the only person to share this truth so eloquently. Still, three things really interest me about his reflection.

First, John Lennon was protective of his private life - yet this quote is very personal.

Second, his life was messy and complicated, but these words reveal his awareness of someone vitally needed in his life.

Third, this quote from a pop icon is a reminder that God uses whoever He wants to teach the world with His truth.

Instead of each person watching out for their own good,
watch out for what is better for others.
Philippians 2:4
Be kind and helpful to one another,
tender-hearted [compassionate, understanding],
forgiving one another [readily and freely],
just as God in Christ also forgave you.
 Ephesians 4:32 AMP

Dear Lord, as we come to the end of a calendar year, please prepare our hearts and minds to see You and recognize Your Truth everywhere we find it. Please help us to remember not to judge others but to be willing watering cans - quick to pour out kindness and friendship to a hurting world. In Jesus name, amen.
