Good Morning,
This writing for Monday is concerned with the importance of listening to God's truth and to what is honorable. We are reminded to appreciate our own gifts and not go on wishing we had gifts of someone else. Comparison is a land mine to our hearts and minds. Bre wrote, "Let’s be careful about what we are consuming and dwelling on. Make sure it’s something about which God would be happy.''
Remember that our gifts are from God; He planned the exact gifts He wanted us to have, and He never makes mistakes.
Have a blessed week,
Bre Miller

"Dwell on These Things"

“Finally, brethren, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable,
whatever is right,
whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is of good
repute, if there is any excellence
and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”
and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.”
PHILIPPIANS 4:8
NASB
This is something we can all work on, let’s admit it. The world
likes to feed us things that are not of God and things that are sinful. Things
that are negative. Something I’m very guilty of is corrupting my mind by
comparing myself to others. Our society is so obsessed with weight and looks
that you can’t go on Instagram without seeing “before and after”photos. We
obsess over our appearance. For what? For God? No...for ourselves. Is trying to
be like other people true? Is it honorable? Is it worthy of praise?
Another thing to think about is that it’s okay for us to talk
about problems and sort them out. It’s okay to know what’s going on in the
world. What isn’t okay is DWELLING on such things. What we need to dwell on is
The Word of God and His love. We need to be putting positive things in our
minds, not the garbage of the world. A popular saying I hear is “garbage
in-garbage out,” and you know what? It’s so true! Sometimes, sayings are popular
for a reason.
The world tells us to meditate and center ourselves. It tells us to
be involved in these New Age practices and we will be happier and healthier. Is
that true? Is it right? Is it honorable? Is it pure? Certainly not! God tells
us do not listen to the world. He also tells us that the only thing we should
be meditating on is His Word.
“This book of the law
shall not depart from your mouth,
but you
shall meditate on it day and night,
so that you may be careful to do according
to all
that is written in it; for then you will make your way
prosperous, and
then you will have success.”
JOSHUA 1:8
NASB
The verse above isn’t talking about money. It isn’t talking
about health and wealth. It isn’t talking about measuring your success
according to the world’s tape measure. It’s talking about success according to
God and what He wants for us.
“No one can serve two masters;
for either he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will be devoted to one and despise the other.
for either he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will be devoted to one and despise the other.
You
cannot serve God and wealth.”
MATTHEW 6:24
NASB
God tells the truth, The World tells lies. So, let’s be careful about what we are consuming and dwelling
on. Make sure it’s something God would be happy about.
